I would really like to fine one of the old marlin Camp Carbines, preferably in .45 ACP, that wasn't 2 or 3 times what a new one sold for. With the state of everything nowadays, I think Marlin really screwed up discontinuing that model in 1999, but who knew then?

My dad bought me a 20 ga remmington 870 express when I was 11 and a ruger 10/22 when I was 12. I bought a remmington .280 model 742 (I think) on my 18th b-day.

Why the 280 & not a 270 WIN. or a 30-06, ammo is hard to find in 280:humm:

It was used and I thought it would be neat to have a "woodsmaster" since my dad had a 12 ga wingmaster. I hardly ever shoot it. Too expensive like you say. Trying to decide on a good deer rifle I can afford to shoot right now.
