Pump Shotguns

Im in the market for a economically priced pump. Went to a few dealers and swung some around and they all feel around the same weight wise and fel good.Just wondering what some of you guys have and how you like them.Trying to avoid a "newer" remington 870 express cause i heard they arent that welll made. The new weatherbys look nice too like the wingmasters

Don't know who you've been listening to, but the 870 is hard to beat.

stay away from any mossberg 500. i hate mine. everyone i have had my hands on, the "pump" rattles back and forth. and the butt stock is ridiculously short and i am average sized.

I have a few 870 Remington shotguns, they are hard to beat and they function under the most adverse conditions you could imagine. Here is a picture of my favorite sidearm, Serbu super-shorty 870. :rocking: Nothing breaks the language barrier like the sound of round being chambered in a pump shotgun.

I have a Benelli Nova 12ga. pump action shotgun. They are a little heavier and longer than the norm, coming at you with a 28" barrel. Some really great features are that it is chambered for 3 1/2", and has a magazine disconnect. Doesn't have the same feel as an old Wing Master, but I believe it will last me a long time.

I love my 870. Its an old 1960 Wingmaster that I'm rebuilding, as I get money, as a more tactical gun rather than a bird gun. My plan is to buy a newer gun for hunting. I got the gun with no stock so I bought the Blackhawk Knoxx adjustable stock and I don't really care for it. I'm going to sell it and switch it out for a Speedfeed unit. Then its got a 28" barrel that I'm going to switch out for a shorter one. I haven't put 500 rounds through it yet but its great, hasn't jammed, no other issues, parts are easy to find and relatively cheap. Remington will be my first choice when it come to shotguns.

from what i hear the 870s are the standard. but reason i said i want to stay away from the new "express" models is ive heard alot about the matte finish makes the shells jam when ejected.and most things aret made like they used to so i might wanna do some searching for an older one or a wingmaster

SmokiinRam 08-03-2010 02:43 PM

If that is actually your weapon, I sure wouldn't be showing pics of it on the net, or anywhere else for that matter! Unless you have a NFA (National Firearms Act) tax-stamped, class III weapons permit and all the required paperwork, that thing will land you about 10 years Federal prison!

From a NFA webpage:

The term "short-barreled shotgun" means a shotgun having one or more barrels less than eighteen inches in length and any weapon made from a shotgun (whether by alteration, modification, or otherwise) if such weapon as modified has an overall length of less than twenty-six inches. [18 USCS § 921]

Violations of the Act are punishable by up to 10 years in federal prison and forfeiture of all devices or firearms in violation, and the individual's right to own or possess firearms in the future. The Act provides for a penalty of $10,000 for certain violations.[6] A willful attempt to evade or defeat a tax imposed by the Act is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $100,000 fine ($500,000 in the case of a corporation or trust), under the general tax evasion statute.[7] For an individual, the felony fine of $100,000 for tax evasion could be increased to $250,000.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I feel this needed to be addressed.

Nothing at all wrong with the new 870 Express shotguns. The "coating" is the same Parkerizing they've used for decades.
