i carry a rock island armory 1911 in .45 everyday. swapped around and got it new in the box for about $400.i put hogue swelled palm grips and a wilson combat recoil reducer on it and have a chip mccormick 10 round mag for it. the trigger was better out of the box than my friends colt commander. it shoots very good, i killed a boar with it swimming a river at about 50 yards, and have killed several pigs, armadillos, and even a coyote with it since then. The only complaint i have with it is i wish it had better sights on it.
I know it's off the subject but i recently got some ammo loaded by liberty. have you seen these? 78gr. hollow point at 1900 fps. with 600 ft/lbs. You should see what they do to a armadillo!!!! I keep one mag loaded with these and another with Hornady critical defense 185gr. |
ive got a sig 5" barrel 1911, great gun. would definatley recomend. dont own one but magnum research makes a nice one too for the money. if your wanting to stay in the 500-600 range id say rock island or ati. im impressed by both of them for the price. krauts make the ati and the rock islands are made using colts old tooling. ive got a para gi expert never had an issue with and a ruger that hasnt been shot. bought the wife a kimber sapphire ultra carry II that will not get shot.

I have a Para subcompact double stack 45. Good gun other than it does not like rounds that have light powder loads.
