6.4 to 7.3 swap. Got a great deal on an 08 f350. All I know about it is it's been sitting for a year. Trans went out and now won't crank. Logging crew truck. Dpf delete. Put batteries (off my 99 7.3)on it and wouldn't make 6 rounds and acts like dead batteries(found out I've got a bad battery). Air filter was stopped up. Exhaust is clear, unbolted trans and moved it back from engine on blocks so it's still got all wires hooked up( don't know if it will throw codes trying to crank without trans and thought pump might be locked up and torque converter was keeping it from turning over freely. Buying 2 new batteries next week. I'm lost right now. I have a code reader from Walmart for obd2 vehicles. I found no codes(cause it's not had any batteries in a year) trans price $3200 engine price not worth the headache compared to 7.3. Not looking for high horsepower just weekend driver to pull the boat. Oh got this truck for $2500. Previous owner didn't want to mess with it. Truck has 240,000 miles motor supposed to have 50,000 miles. If I can get it to run I'll buy a trans, if not I'll buy a 7.3 truck with auto or manual and transfer case and swap it in. Looking for info on wiring harness or is painless the best way to go to do this swap? If you can make heads or tails out of this let me know what you think.
