Smarty or Edge... That's what I'm coming down to but I think I'm getting the Smarty.

The Smarty's are definitely good, but you need to also have gauges to monitor the truck's vitals and be able watch the gauges (usually 2 or 3), watch the road and decide when to lift off the skinny pedal when things get in the red.

He may want consider the Edge Juice with Attitude monitor. It offers 5 different levels of power on the fly, up to 100hp and 250 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels. The Attitude monitor replaces gauges and the need to watch them. Simply use the default settings or input your desired max levels for EGT's, Boost, Trans/Converter/Clutch Slippage, Engine Temp or whatever (it monitors a dozen different parameters all at once and can display up to 8 at a time with the CTS monitor) and if anything gets "into the red", the Attitude automatically de-fuels the engine to keep all the parts happy.

Though the stock trans and turbo won't like you, for and extra 100 bucks, you can spring for the "HOT" unlock which adds a "level 6" that brings 150hp and 350lb-ft at he wheels to the table.

programmer = smarty or smarty Jr.

module = nothing touches quadzilla. edge is ok but I got way more power out of all my quad boxes and much better fuel mileage

Because of this, I keep going back to an Edge as well. I really like the features that the Edge has but I also like the tuning you can do with a Smarty. It seems like the Smarty would give you more off idle tq (which is what I'm looking for). Hell, I'm not sure if I would even play with everything the Smarty can do... I'm not the smartest kid in school and I'm not patient enough to tweek and tune. I would much rather just plug it in and forget it!

Depends on what he is looking for, power wise smarty or bully dog would be the best, but with having stock tranny if he is not careful then he will toast it. You can always run them on the lower settings until the trans is addressed. But with them gauges will be needed. The bully dog you can run the outlook monitor and have the the gauges and the shift on the fly without having the programmer plugged in, but seems the outlook monitors dont work the best and have some problems but that is an option. Edge runs strong too with the hot unlock or the newer edge race, and already has a good built in gauges with there monitor. Me personally I would get the bully dog and upload some of the larry files on it.

I just picked up a smarty today. It seems the pattern is with the CR folk, get a small chip, then go to edge juice with attitude, sell that and get smarty.

I picked up a smarty today, and skipped the juice/attitude stage. So we will see how this goes. So far the truck runs better

An often overlooked module is a dr performance. You went good with a smarty don't get me wrong. A dr performance will stack with a smarty btw. Another good one is a TS module. A really crazy box is one from tst. That powermax cr seems to get some great power. Really it comes down to what your wanting to do with your ride. They have them mild to wild.
