COST FOR 4X4 CONVERSION
Just curious if anyone out there would know the cost, of parts and labor, to switch a 7.3 diesel 2wd 97' F250 ext-cab long bed with automatic to a 4x4 set up and is it difficult to do for your average joe or is it best to hire a pro to do it?
im not sure on what the price would be, but it will probably would be cheaper to trade in yours for a 4wd truck and pay just a lil more for it. if i had to guess it would cost $2-3000 plus just for parts. maybe someone who has done this before will chime in here. good luck

Yep, it can be done but usually not cheep, Unless your a good scrounger.. The front axle alone can set you back about a grand for a KP D60 then your going to need the Xfer case you can use a divorced set up which would be cheaper than finding a married tranny and case..
Check out http://www.fordtruckfanatics.com/forum and http://pirate4x4.com/forum/ UNLESS you have THICK skin I'd suggest sticking searches on pirate though, BUT when it comes to 4x4's they do know there ****.
