Ol stock springs with shims. The install went without a hitch, do it yourself! Attachment 46918 Stock 175 fuel plate, running plateless! Attachment 46919 Inside the pump itself Attachment 46920 AFC Mods, I'll try to explain my best if you have q's let me know. First remove the housing and cut two slots into the tamper screws (one for the housing itself and the other is the smoke screw cap) I then used a vise grip on the edges to break it loose Attachment 46921 Cap off Attachment 46922 Heres the smoke screw it you want to mess with it (I didnt) It has a heavy dose of loc-tight holding the nut that sets its depth. The allen to break it loose is a 3mm I believe. Attachment 46923 Alright cap off heres what youll see. The washer with a small lip and the diaphram and a 8mm nut. Gently break the rubber loose then remove the nut and seperate it from the housing Attachment 46924 Heres what you'll see. Attachment 46925 Heres the back washer with the deep lip, you will flip the two around and inturn gain more foot movement Attachment 46926 Inside shot and you can see the star wheel Attachment 46927 |

Alright, before you put it all back together, you have to mod the foot to use the new found travel.
Disassembly follws as removing the 8mm nut on the front of the housing to remove the alignment rod on the foot Attachment 46914 Attachment 46915 Foot will fall out leaving it "gutted" Some do this as well but I want low boost smoke control Attachment 46916 Dont have a pic of this but you grind on the longer shaft of the foot until you get full movement without hitting the housing. It took me two test fits to get it right. Roughly 5/16's Time to get it back together and heres what u end up with Attachment 46917 Put the cap back on and crank the screws tight and your done! |

Cleaned up more around the pump and degreased some more while I had access to the side yet
Attachment 46912 With the shut off solenoid off I sand blasted the crusty bracket and wire wheeled the shut off body etch primed both and painted Attachment 46913 Gauges tomorrow.... :c: |
are you gonna install the mack plug as well?
|
Want to for sure, but pulling the pump at this moment in time isnt in the plans. Dunno it I want to grind on the case either....
|
no real need to pull the whole pump ... just pop the gear off, loosen the mounting bolts and slide it back a few inches.
|
I wish I would had done it when the pump got timed but i was thinkin at the time... :argh: I'll survive till next time or if I bench the pump.

here are the pics of my hitch, sorry about the wires all over the place.
Attachment 46908 Attachment 46909 Attachment 46910 Attachment 46911 |
Little tip on the hitch.......But it might be too late since you have the bed off. Most of us mount the hitch on the underside lip of the top frame rail. You would be suprized how much it help, and you gain a bit of a weight transfer advantage. They key to doing this is that you would lower your hook point to below the hitch itself, thus when the sled is pulling on it, the hitch will auctually help pull the front end down.
Not sure if i explained it good enough...... Progress looks good!!!! Cant wait to get started on my second Pulling truck build!!! This time Im going Old School!!! |

are you allowed to hang weight or will your weight be in the bed of the truck?
don't forget to add your weight to the truck before drilling that last hole:c: |
Good point, eventually I'll be hanging weights but not this year and the truck is 1k light at the moment... Def. dnt want that much in the bed but I'll try to get 500 in the cab :D Side note where did you get the clevis part of your hitch?
