have you tried lacquer thinner on a rag yet, heard that works dont know haven't tried it. just be careful not to get it on the paint you don't want coming off. that paint crap is some nasty stuff to get off GOOD LUCK

maybe some light wet sanding... and i mean REAL light. Trick is to sand through the lines and not the paint underneath.

claybar?

you sure there not vinyl. if so they have vinyl decal remover at o'reilleys in a spray can.

woops, my bad, i thought he was talking about hi-way line marking paint :scare2:

We are talking about highway line paint.. I used a razor blade on my running boards no issues there.. Now for my rocker panel stainless steel i didn't want to do that so i tried some turtle wax chrome polish help a little, but lots let on there.. So i tried starting fluid and that didn't seem to work. So than i got out some maratic acid and tried to clean my wheel wells with that because i knew it couldn't harm it and it didn't do anything besides hurt my finger tips and change my rag a funny color.. I will try a clay bar when i get to the store but i think i might have a little rubbing compound i might try.

that decal remover will take everything over clearcoat off. have used it to take off spray paint.

call up the people who painted the line, i know around here in pa if u get it on ur car, they are saposed to remove it, they should of had a truck following far enough back to let it dry before being able to drive on it. i know here a truck follows like 1/2 mile behind the painter not allowing people to pass him.

On the clear coat, I've used a clay bar. I found some on my wife's PT cruiser when I was cleaning it up to trade in. The clay bar took it off and I polished then waxed it.

On stainless, I'd think that the decal remover should take the highway paint off. Then hit it with some metal polish to clean up any residue.

Good luck.
