Here is mine, I actually have a full excel spread sheet with every tool inside the box by brand part # and cost for insurance purposes. I also need a bigger box because I can not organize the tools the way I want to in this box, there is not enough room.
Attachment 50938 Attachment 50939 Every drawer is full, neatly organized, and in a particular order. Ask anyone that uses the "Cave", if you use my tools you put them back where you got them from and cleaned up or you don't use them again, period. Oh, BTW here is the old thread about this https://www.dieselbombers.com/shade-...-tool-box.html |

Mine -
Attachment 48999 Not what I was looking for when I was ready for a new box, but I got a heck of a deal on it. Now that I have had it for a while I really like the side cabinets. Makes storing larger items much easier. |
whoooo that wheeled box is cooool
|
:humm: :humm: They all have wheels....
|
Only tool box i have is the bed mounted one in my truck.
|
My actual tool boxes are not worth a picture -- mix and match, one my original box that I bought when I was 14 (Snappy). What's inside is another story. After averaging about $20 a week on good tools (mostly Snap On) since I was 14 years old (I'm over 50 now) and after spending a couple years as a Snap On dealer, I have stuff... Enough so that walking on a tool truck is like, meh... :y: Just got most of the Cummins tools that I'll need for taking care of the 12V. Some day I'll get a big shiny tool box that holds everything, but for now, I just cram the othe couple of boxes full and spend my money on the tools themselves.

My toolbox isn't big, but it's stuffed full...and I have a few other rollcarts and storage bins with various specialty tools. Here's an old pic, the only one I could find with the toolbox in it...Attachment 48315
|
All I got right now besides what's in the truck toolbox. I had a lot more but my stash got stolen a coupe years ago so I'm slowly rebuilding the collection. The black one is a great 340-pc set I bought from Craftsman for $200. Specialty tools for suspension, brakes, etc are on the shelf to the lower right (can't really see the pile of red boxes).

I counted over the weekend... I have 18 ratchet wrenches -- all but 4 are Snap On and those 4 are Mac, Matco, K-D, and Proto. Weird thing is that I use them all.
I need to do a total tool inventory. My collection needs its own line item in my homeowner's insurance. |

How long has it taken you guys to build up your collections? Right now being in college I have two decent sized hand boxes that are full, I dont have enough yet tho to move to a big box. I am pretty much set with hand tools, now I need to start looking into some power tools. Just seeing the time and expense I will be looking at. thanks.
|
To be honest I collect tools since 20years.
And I could run still everyday for something special. It is easy to explain why. I always try to get the very best tool, because sometimes you have only one try to do the job. Ruined parts can get expensive very quick. @moose: :D bro, I feel so sorry for you! Is there any chance to remove those ricers pictures. At least you have some very good snap-on's!!! I have only the black Craftsman chest and drawers... |
I started buying tools when I was 14 and got my first car. I still have some of my first tools also. On average, I've spent about $20 a week or so on tools since then. That was 39 years ago... Lord knows how much money I've made or saved by doing my own work with those tools over the years, and I'm still buying, but my stuff is more exotic and more expensive these days.
I prefer Snap On to any other brand of hand tools, except specialty tools, then I go to the one's who figured it out in the first place. Vice Grips, Crescent Wrenches, etc., are all better than other offerings. Knipco have the best pliers. On it goes. Since I've been an Snap On dealer, I've had a lot of experience comparing one tool to another. Though I started with Snap On way back when I was a kid, I've never been disapointed and I'm still a big customer and fan, enough so that becoming a dealer was a good thing for me. I'm out of the business now (don't care for their business model as a dealer) but still using and buying their tools. |
My toolbox got a little crushed:argh: I was going up the ramps in my ATV when the ATV tire hit the bugle on the bed of my pick-up & I went airborne & landed on the toolbox:scare2: I had to get a heavy hammer, I made the toolbox functional, but it wasn't pretty:ouch:

See... If you had a real tool box, you could just park the ATV in the side cabinet. :tu: |

Yeah I just graduated from UNOH and I loved my 50% off lol. Our school Snappy guy was picky tho and most of the stuff they offered discount I already had. Got the box used so no discount on that either :(
