It has rack and pinion steering & disc brakes! Just about soiled myself...lol

stkdram55 09-20-2009 01:26 AM

yeah and for a second mortgage you can afford one lol...those are big at dirt track races

kazairl 09-20-2009 02:51 AM

That thing probably costs more than my truck did brand new.

Mr. Miyagi 09-20-2009 04:43 AM

That's an Extreme Green TUV.....$23,000 and change & it's not even close to the largest box Snap-on makes.

Kinda cool, but for the price it's not really the best tool box nor the best pit cart, but it is a nice compromise between the two.

coyropin 09-20-2009 05:23 AM

mine doesnt have the rack and pinion or the big tires but it costed the same i could be rolling in two new trucks if i could stop buying tools and boxes:madd:

07redsled 09-20-2009 01:45 PM

lol tool box prices suck i have the matco 6 top bottem and locker its 10 foot by 6 foot and 28inches deep . man my pocket feels lite from buyin that think lol

RSWORDS 09-20-2009 02:11 PM

Thats a nice box, There is bigger.

DIESELDENT 09-22-2009 12:15 PM

Purdy box but no way I could sink the money in one like that id rather get all the tools I need. There's a guy at work that has one that costs more than my truck with a custom paint job and he's always asking to borrow my specialty tools. :ph:

stkdram55 09-22-2009 01:18 PM

im perfectly happy with my Tech 1000 Series MAC box..

Deezel Stink3r 09-22-2009 03:30 PM

Damn', I was so proud of my two Roll-aways and two chests. But this monster is still 1/3 bigger.
totally shocked:wacko2:

Nitelord 09-22-2009 03:34 PM

I saw one at a "big box" store. Refrigerator, am/fm/cd and wired for internet access.

I thought that was over the top. But boy was i wrong...

Mr. Miyagi 09-22-2009 11:50 PM

Snap-on KRL1065 aka "Mr. Big"

There's a '69 Nova underneath that car cover...notice the box is almost the same length.

Put a side locker on each end and a couple top boxes, or a workstation cabinet with overhead storage, and you can probably fit an entire tool truck inventory in it.

Of course, you'll have about a $50,000 tool box....empty. :argh:

http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x...z/Tool_Box.jpg

Next time I'm at one of my customer's shops I will take a picture of the foreman's box....it's a Mr. Big with the above menioned side lockers and workstation upper.....insanely cool...

Uncle Bubba 09-22-2009 11:55 PM

So at this point why not just mount an engine and the drivers seat on one end of it and make it self propelled so you can drive it to the track.

I just don't have a mind that can justify the existence of a box like that.

Why not have three boxes that are actually portable? If you know your going to be in a place forever, why not build wall cabinets?

In the position I'm in, I could either spend $14,000 for a Snap-On tool box or buy a Cummins-powered service truck off Craigslist for $8,000. As far as functionality goes, in my current field at least and I'd imagine most fields, it's a no-brainer.

1. Image

4. The feeling of "arriving" at a point as a tech where you can justify deserving one in your mind.
5. Just wanting one and having the cash to get it.
...I guess some shops don't like wall cabinets, and many independent shops require tools for everything and don't like a tech having multiple boxes as it detracts from the overall image (gee imagine that). I know a few peeps with Mr. Big's....full, too.

Stages of technician competency:

1. Ability
2. Motivation
3. Tools
4. Box

I have one rather nice box, one decent box, one okay box and four complete POS's that have had the casters welded back on...........well, until one broke and fell over in the shop and now it is sitting in a frame I built from scrap steel....didn't even paint it...all about the 'patina'...

Oh, that big ass thing...yeah, that ain't mine...

Uncle Bubba 09-23-2009 01:47 AM

Most mechanics I know with these boxes are broke as hell and can't make their tool man payments more months out of the year then they can. The Mac and Snap On guy pulls up and it's like Christmas, New Years Eve and your birthday all rolled into one special occasion for these guys and it's just a coincidence that it always happens within a day or two of payday.

cumminspwrram59 09-23-2009 12:32 PM

yea thats the truth bout us techs. tool truck comes all work stops. i was told if you are gonna do this the rest of ur life you mite as well have stuff that will last. thats my justification behind it. personally my box is a husky and its packed full but i got more important things to worry bout other than a box. like my girl and my truck

stkdram55 09-23-2009 12:36 PM

if your a mechanic you need to know one thing...when you start wrenching your gonna have a tool payment and when you die good chance your gonna have a tool payment:argh::argh:

I mechaniced back in the 70's through the mid 80's. I worked very nicely out of this. I concentrated on the tools not the box. It is ratty but full of snappy tools.

Uncle Bubba 09-23-2009 10:38 PM

Anybody else out there ever notice that every mechanic around always wants to show you a picture of they're box. I tell you what, I won't show you any pics of my tool and you don't show me any pics of your box.:pals: :tttt::tttt::tttt:

Sorry it popped into my head and I couldn't resist.:ouch:

stkdram55 09-23-2009 10:46 PM

This is the box I was talkin' about before that one of my customers owns....I was incorrect about the side lockers but with the top chest & workstation cabinet the thing is just huge....and completely full, too.

Mabey it's because i work at a fleet shop but i cant even think of enough tools to fill that. :s: That sucker would make our shop sink. When I delivered parts for the junkyard there was a guy at a body shop that had one of those "Mr. Big's" w/ lockers on each end. That box was the width of 2 bays. I'll stick w/ my 58" cornwell. :rocking:

my tool box.

blkjack 12-14-2009 06:24 PM

Dont have any pics of mine right now its a craftsman paid like $2400 for the top and bottom and i thought that was bad when i paid that much for it I know when the tool guys would come around man like a kid in a candy store for sure. I tried concentrating on tools more too than the box it was hard enough to pay for the tools at the time let alone a 10-20k box for them :ouch: but If would have had the $$ for one prolly would have had one for sure though :w2:

86k5 12-14-2009 11:41 PM

the only way id pay a bunch of $$$ for a box is if it was one of those with the old #3 on it!!!:c:

My pit cart.
Attachment 50235

Not what I had originally wanted when I was looking at upgrading my old single bank Snap On box, but I got one hell of a deal on it. A friend of a friend was a Big Rig mechanic and got laid off, so he decided he was done and was going to retire. I just had to pay off the box.

I love the side lockers, but the drawers in the center are too shallow. I am going to pull out 2 and install a single, make better use of the space. No, I don't pull it around the shop. However, if we ever need to take a box to the race track, this is perfect. And the brakes work awesome! Fully loaded, on a trailer ramp, will bring the whole box to a full stop and hold it there!

H1 Bomber 12-15-2009 12:05 PM

WOW, that is all I can say. Can't see spending that much on a box, when I didn't pay that much for the truck I drive. The only way I would spend 14K + on a box, is if it was full of the tools I wanted / needed.

sometimes you can luck into a guy doin that but not to often jus gotta keep upgrading kinda like a truck get one have it for a little bit trader in for a newer one ya know what i mean. the snap-on fella was in last week and had a classic 78 that was 5800 :argh: he told me he would sell er for 4600 then my trade in box he would go 3800 on a brand new box. its temptin but i gotta do some other stuff first
