What is your favorite hand cleaner?

We are almost moved into the new shop, and I made sure the hand cleaner dispensers from our old shop just happened to disappear....:w2:

I want to go with Cherry Bomb by Zep. I've used it a few times before and I really liked it.

What is your favorite hand cleaner? I'm tired of orange scent and my hands are so dried out they are cracking and bleeding. Any suggestions? Pro and cons please!

:pca1:

wildbill 12-25-2008 04:40 PM

Simple Green hand cleaner works ok. It does have pumice in it, but it's not as harsh as the orange Gojo. I tried regular Gojo, but it slimes up the sink really bad. So Simple Green it was.:U:

Dr. Evil 12-25-2008 04:49 PM

Tide powder works great but its not real nice if you have fresh cuts/gouges on your hands.

DieselDiva 12-26-2008 09:48 AM

Come on guys! I know more of you use hand cleaner!! lol

If you are not looking for a bulk dispenser I am supplying my field techs with Dynatex. It can be used with or without water, no pumice and it doesn't seem to leave a oily residue like most waterless. This stuff comes in a 15oz. bottle and kind of smells like bubblegum.

If you are looking for bulk and like the Cherry Bomb, I believe that Permatex is making M80, smells and works like Cherry Bomb. Uses the same dispenser but a lot better price.:U:

I dunno what it is but at work we use some white stuff and it has ground up walnut shells in it.........................I have never seen anything work as well as this stuff

Is it in a white bottle and green dispenser? I believe that stuff is called Kresto and its made in Germany.

Nitelord 12-26-2008 02:15 PM

I use Gojo.. I have a big container of it over the utility sink. That stuff is great..

Whit 12-26-2008 03:21 PM

Yes Doc is correct........its Kresto and its the best ever .............Gases plus supplies our shop but I am sure its avail alot of places

luv4rotties 12-26-2008 04:40 PM

My boss ordered us some " Super Tough Hand Scrub". I've never used anything better!! It actually feels like your hands have been moisturized after using it. It don't dry your hands out at all and doesn't leave that gunky film in the sink. They even have a website...... Super Tough Hand Scrub - Industrial Hand Cleaner Try it out... you might like it.

Do not use WD-40 - your skin absorbs it and its essentially poison.

CAT MAN 12-27-2008 08:29 AM

GOJO

Somebody else shops at Bramstedt's....lol

The Dynatex is the best hand cleaner I've ever used, and I've used many, many different brands.

I would rate the Cherry Punch/M80 second, and the Kresto third.

I also have had really good luck with the wipes....they're kinda like baby wipes only they cut grease really well and don't leave much in the way of residue. I used to really like the Wypall brand but here lately I've been buying some @ Western Fluid but I don't remember the brand....there's a tub of them in my shop truck but it's about 300 yards away in 2 feet of snow, so it'll have to wait until later to get the specifics....

Dawn is awesome, but when you're in an area without water, you might as well wash up with spit and gravel because then at least you won't leave a slimy handprint on everything you touch for the next 5 hours....

Dawn dishwashing liquid works as good or better than any handcleaner I've found yet. As a bonus, it breaks the grease down so it doesn't clog the sink up. Not to mention it's quite a bit cheaper.
If it's ground in grease/dirt, I'll grab a piece of red Scotch-brite to scrub with. If you have soft or sensitive skin, try either green, blue, or white pads, which are a lot easier on your skin.

Johnny Cetane 12-29-2008 07:13 AM

Yep I just use good ole Dawn with a pot/pan scrubber. It cleans and exfoliates. :lol88:

you are correct. liquid dishwashing detergent works better than lacquer thinner on most grease! I've heard thinner's bad for you, though. the gojo is a very trusty plan B, as well as the white degreaser mentioned with walnut shells. but really, I've found nothing that works better than automatic dishwashing liquid.

anyone know what PRC is? it's the nastiest two part epoxy ever, we use it to seal the fuel tanks on aluminum aircraft wings. if you don't take that stuff off within a few minutes, it WILL NOT come off until your dyed skin is dead/gone. liquid detergent is my all time favorite.

with something nasty, I like to use series 8 (painter's shield), a water soluble creme/lotion you coat your hands with before exposed to oil based anything.

Mr. Miyagi 12-30-2008 01:47 AM

All you dishwashing liquid kool-aid drinkers must have the luxury of hot & cold running water where you work....:tttt:

wildbill 01-03-2009 04:34 PM

Don't use Cascade if you got cuts and scraps on your hands. That is unless you want your hands to be nice and sanitary from the bleach. :ouch::ouch::ouch:

sidekick 01-03-2009 06:42 PM

I like the cherry bomb cleaner it seems to not dry out the skin, but also i use Snap-On cleaner in the garage at home works well also. Both are great to me

Thats my personal two likes

cumminsman65 01-03-2009 08:07 PM

I love cherry bomb the smell makes me hungry though!:U:

cummins24 01-04-2009 10:43 AM

I usually use Joe's, you can use it with or without water, no pumice, leaves nothing on your hands, and smells like bananas :ok1:

Not only that, I have a refrigerator, microwave and Sirius radio at my bench. The coffee pot is but a few steps away too. :tttt:

m1a1abram 01-05-2009 02:42 PM

Dawn dish soap works best for me, tried Oxy-Clean once in a pinch found every cut and scape in my hands:argh:

Gotta have the fridge to keep the kool aid and beer cold!!

DazedandConfused 01-05-2009 04:16 PM

Another Vote for Dawn righ here.

atrd86 01-05-2009 05:20 PM

:up2:The stuff I like the best is called PR88 and you actually put it on before you start to work and rub it in good and it feels like you got nothing on and when your done just rinse your hands in water and a little bit of hand soap if you have any and all the dirt, oil, and grime comes right off.

It leaves no dirt at all, no scrubbing it out of your finger nails and calluses!
In my opinion it is the best on earth.

I get it at acklands and it comes in three sizes in yellow containers.
If you havent used it I suggest you try it.:up2:

Sounds like someone uses the same cleaner I do. And it also works great on cleaning greasy parts as long as you wash it off well afterward then paint it or lube it up. Growing up on the farm we just used to go to the gas barrel and use that to wash our hands after getting all greased up. It worked great, however it is expensive, really dries the skin, and probably is not too good for you... :w2:

I have a fridge, microwave, and satellite radio, too....just not coffee pot on the service truck.

If I could plumb a hot water heater & sink into one of the bin compartments I'd be set... :rocking:

DuramaxBen 01-30-2009 09:32 PM

Gojo we have the orange Pumice on our farm/my shop coming soon very soon.At College in the Diesel Technology Ag Program we use just regular GOJO the white stuff with a side pumice despenser it works decent.

bccorvette 01-31-2009 12:02 AM

I use Gain laundry detergent. HAHA, I tell all my buddys about how well it works and nobody believes me. At least now I know I am not alone.:howdy:

gunman41mag 01-31-2009 02:42 AM

Any dishwashing liquid will clean great:ok1:

CumminsTurbo22 01-31-2009 08:26 AM

i love 1st aid. i add extra sand to the mix as well:rocking:

Deezel Stink3r 02-03-2009 03:13 PM

That's funny. In Germany we love to use Fast Orange, made by Permatex or Loctite 7855 Hand Cleaner. everything else is so environmental friendly, but your hands are dirty forever...

7.3 Cowboy 02-15-2009 07:31 PM

Gojo

K50 02-15-2009 08:33 PM

I use the Canadian Tire version of Fast Orange or Gojo, whatever it is, with the pumice in it. It actually works better than laundry detergent and dishwasher soap I find. If I get crap on my pants, it will take it out better than either of the other two, and it instantly gets rid of oils, and gunk that stains. That stuff is worth its weight in gold.

you wear a nice little apron with that too? lol :tttt:

Actually, the fast orange stuff has aloe vera in it as well, so it moisturises the skin. The ladies will never know you've been working in a shop all day :tttt:
