I agree. Buying stock or as close to stock as possible would be your best bet. You dont know how hard the truck was driven buy the previous owner. The Cummins are more because they are in a higher demand. They are the new Fast and Furious Honda Civic. My 24v value has gone up $2K since 2004. Then when you are looking for a manual, that tacks on more. People know the manuals are harder to get and can charge more because people will pay it. Why are you looking at the 24v's? Why not a 96 12v with a manual? Less electronics, less to go wrong, no vp44, and you could save some money.:c:

Another thing with buying one with mods is people think that since they put $5K worth of mods on it they can get it back. They forgot that as soon as that part is bolted to the truck it loses value fast. I have probably $15K in my 24v and I could never get that back. Im never gonna sell her but still haha.

i agree with vcustoms look for one stock and if you have the cash dont be afraid to buy one with a little rust and fix it up. i paid 3500 for mine it has some rust and its dented up pretty bad but i'm fixing it slowly. It took another 2500 ish to get it road worthy and a few hundred hear and there (kdp radiator tires, and of course fuel) i bought it with 97k on it i think.

Well guys I thought I would give you a update. I finally found a truck and proud to say its mine!! I love the beast and havent been so happy!

02 slt laramie 4x4 6speed,4.10's,fass 150,edge juice with attitude, silver bullet turbo, afe intake,4in down pipe to 5in straight pipe,20% window tint, halo headlights,2.5in leveling kit with brand new 33's,rhinoliner. Almost no rust on a scale of 1-5 (5 worst) I would give it a .5. original owner was the service manger at a dodge dealership, engine replaced 5k before warranty was up(nothing wrong with it just cause he could lol I have the paperwork for it) truck has 140k, engine has 45k on it. Traded it for my 98 dakota(askin 3k for it) with a bad tranny and 12k

Its already been sprayed with bedliner/undercoating under it. Some spots are pealing so im gonna get it done before next winter. I learned my lesson on my last truck take care of the rust before it gets worse.
