if it is a GAZ 2330, they came with a 5.9 Cummins. But it does sound like something smaller, kinda like a 4bt.

Whatever the case it certainly isnt a GM 6.2/6.5 that the Hummers came with. Maybe someone switched it out for a 4bt....

My granddad would tell me an my cousins stories of when he was in the Army (right after WWII) of when they would do water crossings with the Duce 1/2. He said they would use piping to create a snorkels then chain or link the trucks together bumper to bumper, send one guy swiming across the river then tie the steering wheels down and put the trucks in low gear and would send the trucks in. When the trucks came out on the other side the guy that swam across would have to jump in and drive the first one and take it out of gear and keep going down the line as they cam out of the water........don't know how true the stories were but sound legit as long as the electronics did not get we, but back then there were no to many electronics and the water stayed out of the intake it should work i guess.
