for 38's i wouldnt even bother using hydro. just use the factory 4.3 power steering pump. get an ifs steering box from a toy and then get hysteer. i reccomend going through trailgear.com for hysteer and dual case adapter, life time no questions asked warranty where as marlin has a 1 year limited manufacture defect warranty. make sure to get the arp steering studs too because 81 axles are a little weak in a few departments.

thanks for all the good input... i got 39.5 tsl's on it now having a hard time finding a PS pump and bracket for that motor. turning those without power is rough. i have a complete hydro assist off an 83 toy that will get swapped over soon while i start gathering money/parts for full hydro. doubling the T cases soon as well. just need to work on getting it to flex more. its a project

if you want good flex for cheap use rear toyota springs out of the 3rd gens (89-95) as front springs and then use either 44044 waggoneer springs or chevy 63" springs. if you go with the chevy's make sure they are out of a 2001-2004 4wd. great flex.
heres a picture of mine that i just recently sold. has 63" chevys rear with the overload leaf taken out for a 4leaf pack and 58" chevy's (rears) front from a 4" rancho lift kit for a 1/2 ton 5k blazer. all 4 tires are solid on the ground, i even TRIED flipping it over but couldnt get it.
