Duramax LB7 injector disassembly
Since i had a spare LB7 injector laying around, and i consider myself adventurous, i decided to dismantle the injector down as far as possible
Because I haven't posted anything to meaningful in a while, I thought some of you might like to see the photos of this Stock LB7 injector with an unknown number of miles on it. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-_....NEF.jpg?gl=US the nozzle comes off quite easily https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-L....NEF.jpg?gl=US the needle valve comes out of the back of the nozzle with a gentle tap https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-W....NEF.jpg?gl=US here is a close up of the pintle https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-E....NEF.jpg?gl=US and the back of the nozzle https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-V....NEF.jpg?gl=US in this photo you can see some of the spray holes https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-v....NEF.jpg?gl=US to get an idea on how small the jets are, here is a measurement of the outside diameter of the nozzle https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-E....NEF.jpg?gl=US this is where the nozzle mates up to. the two prongs keep it centered and aligned. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-X....NEF.jpg?gl=US and of course the parts that are in it https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-1....NEF.jpg?gl=US there is still more inside it but they come out from the other side https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-J....NEF.jpg?gl=US this is the other side. the solenoid removed https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-8....NEF.jpg?gl=US this spring sits inside the hole in the center of the solenoid https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1....NEF.jpg?gl=US the top of the solenoid where the wires connect. i have know idea what the numbers mean https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-b....NEF.jpg?gl=US some sort of contraption sits under the solenoid. i believe that this is the part that the solenoid pulls up on to allow the fuel to flow https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-H....NEF.jpg?gl=US this part lifts out easy. the right side of the photo shows a small "cup" and bearing (ball) that sits under this contraption https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-b....NEF.jpg?gl=US this one is tricky to take apart. you have to lift the spring and slide the retainer out from under it. here i have it pulled out half way https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-V....NEF.jpg?gl=US |
