This might sound like a step backwards to some and a step forward to others, but I sold my 07 Dodge Cummins and bought a 97 12-valver. The 07 never gave me any issues, but the 97 needs some work and I was just wondering what your thoughts are for mechanics around here (Meridian). I reckon it's Big Twin for the engine, but what about other stuff? I'm taking it in to Frontier Tire on Monday for upper and lower ball joints. Where have Dodge owners gone in the area with good success?

You need to get aquainted with Harold!! Muddy has his number. I think he is over around Marsing. What you can get him to do (I don't think he does everything....) will make you and your truck a very happy camper!

ditto to what dan said. harold is the man and works reasonable. only dodge cummins for him and he can do it all. engine complete and everything. for trans work it is lumpdog all the way.

The truck's not in bad shape. It does have a small oil leak somewhere near the balancer, but I haven't gotten down there to clean it up and see where it's coming from yet. Previous owner put a single stack on it, so I'll probably get an MBRP system to bring it back under the bed. Open to recommendations there. I just bought new batteries for it, so hopefully that's all it needed electrically and there's not a drain somewhere. Lower ball joints are shot, so having the upper and lowers done at the same time. I want to get it solid mechanically before making anything else. Some details: 97 Dodge Club Cab, 2WD, 5.9L I6, automatic, Laramie SLT, Trailer Tow Gp, Camper Special Pkg, Travel Convenience Gp, Rear Slider, Pwr driver's seat, Infinity sound (missing).

there is a cheaper alternative to handle the exhaust. also a single stack is cool. unless ya pack a cabover.



oil leak is probably from crankshaft seal. needs a kdp retention done anyway and that seal will be replaced.

If it is a chrome stack, I'd be willing to trade the one off of my truck. Its an after market 4in.
