It looks like some sort of pulse reading probe is needed and some other scan deal that asks for cetane numbers in the fuel running through the motor. Is there a place around here with the equipment to properly check and set the timing on my truck? How much does that equipment typically cost? Is a timing light even used?

Diesel Injection Service over on federal Way has the equipment to time an IDI, they said they pop test injectors as well.

Is that right on Federal Way off close to where you go up there from Broadway? I think I saw a sign up there for diesel engine work. Thanks.

Yeah, thats the place. I called and they said $80 to check/adjust timing.

Let me know how it goes. I've heard the optimum timing for these things is 9.5* BTDC.
