While standing in front of my brothers 01 Cummins with the hood open. We were talking to this older guy with a southern accent about Cummins engines. He owns a 1992 Dodge Ram w/ Cummins himself. After half an hour discussing diesels, he turns and looks at mr bros engine and says: "Now tell me.... by chance, would this be a diieesel??":argh:

it is. But the mercedes snobs have the "only use the recomended by MFG" doctrine so engranded into their heads that using anything but at the pump diesel is blasphemy. :argh:
I may be guilty of vehicular profiling, but, I suspect that members of the Diesel-powered Mercedes demographic are not a very adventurous crowd. Picture the scenario: guy steps out of bounds....later on, turns in car for regular maintenance (at a Benz-shop, of course)...shop tech sends a small fuel sample off for analysis (maybe just out of lawyer-mediated general paranoia or *insert cheesy Hollywood German accent here* "az a maddah of prrrrrozeeedjah!") discerns jet fuel.... BADA-BING! warranty voided, in German....... annnnnd, who's he going to sell it to, later? Not back to the Benz dealership..... Carmax!!! Oh, the HORROR of having to associate with the rest of us riffraff.... |
