The Roof Stack

Well I'm sure this is going to spark controversy. But here it goes.

I have never been an advocate against Black Smoke , and i have said in the past if it wasn't for the Black Smoke over 1/2 of us wouldn't of got our feet wet in diesel vehicles. its what first attracted our attention ... sure after you got more involved and educated you may of jumped on the "Smoke is Bad MmmmKay" wagon.. but for the most part you have to admit that the Black smoke is/was intriguing.

Im still a big fan of it and its pretty much my greeting to other Diesel owners as we pass on the highway as well as my anti tailgating determent. Now i do agree that there is a place and time for everything , like its not cool to smoke Motorcycles , but pedestrians and bicycles are bonus points . :D

My avatar is a picture my 7yr old son did.... funny how it has a Roof Stack rolling black smoke....

like it or not Its our identity.

Smoke On Bombers :choochoo:

... now to figure out how to roof stack my truck :humm:

Thats awesome roof stack man. I do have to agree with you though on the smoking thing there is a time and a place but it def pretty fun at times to smoke a pain in the a$$ out when they are taigaiting you.

lol admittedly I never thought smoking diesel pickups was cool; the first time I saw a Dodge Cummins lay black smoke down from a set of lights I wondered wtf was wrong with it... That was probably 10 years ago. I never knew what was going on. But I did always think a K-whopper or a 379 twisting off the line blowing big dark exhaust clouds from dual stacks was an awesome sight, and hearing that turbo whistle away under full load. :jump::tu:

Cool picture man. :rocking:

I HAVE SEEN A ROOF STACK!!! it was on a mud racing truck in ohio. guy had a late 60's early 70's burban with 2 stacks coming up threw the back of the truck threw the roof. it was a gasser but still.

found a pic of it!

For the roof stack maybe something similar to a snorkel for an air intake since I'm sure that you don't want a pipe running up through your truck somewhere. I'd kinda like to put stacks on an Excursion though...:humm:

And for smoke, I must admit that it was the number one thing that got me into diesels. I have since learned quite a bit and since my truck doesn't smoke very much :dang: I haven't had the opportunity to learn when and where the best time is, but I will someday. And I agree on the peds and bicyclists because we have tons of people riding on or over the white line and they won't move and I kinda wish my truck smoked more to give them a little "hint" that they are in the way and making themselves a safety hazard.

Wasn't there a Suburban in the TTC that had a 12V in it with a roof stack?:humm:

yeah the black smoke of the truck is fun somtimes and is my call to other diesel trucks but within reason and it looks like your truck chase did a fine job:choochoo:

yes! I loved the sight of that thing rollin coal out the back of the roof

personally, I try to keep the smoke down in mormal driving, but if I feel the need to get on it it's hard to avoid with a mechanical motor.
