so far, the lighters and matches haven't failed me... but then this is the desert... Water purification tablets are there, in the 1st aid kit. No saw yet... any suggestions? I have two saws: BCB Commando Wire Saw with nylon wrist straps. 7 or 8 bucks at the Surplus Store. Gerber Exchange A Blade folding saw. Has one Wood blade and one Bone blade. About 20 bucks at Cabelas or Gander Mt. |

I had problems with the cotton/vaseline balls being able to light damp wood or in rain conditions. The magnesium lighter was hot enough to ignite damp wood sitting in a puddle.

You are not alone. I carry almost the exact same items in my truck at all times. I didn't see these items in your BOB. Magnesium fire starter or wax dipped strike anywhere matches. A small folding saw or coiled wire saw. Water purification tablets or purification filter hand pump. |
Bill you're a knucklehead are you going on a road trip or preparing for the nuclear Holocaust? i have a few tools and a fuel filter but not an extra fuel pump or nothin crazy like i'm seein here Bill, it's awesome don't get me wrong but i think i'd like to know what kinda road trip are we talking about?
|
lol
ANY kind of road trip where you don't want to be sitting on the side of the road, waiting for a tow truck, Ty. That is... If there is a Tow Truck AVAILABLE... |
You need electrical wire, baling wire, and diagonal cutters, and wire strippers.
Seriously, how can you have have a tool kit without diagonal cutters and wire strippers? |

Seriously, how can you have have a tool kit without diagonal cutters and wire strippers? The needle nose I have will cut and strip wire... although not ideal, they will do in a pinch. Honestly, I guess I overlooked that, every other vehicle kit I have has wire strippers and wire in them... glad you caught that for me. |
You also need some bolt cutters or a hacksaw.
