Tring to figure out the year of this truck?
I looked at a F250 at a lot, but they were closed and there wasn't any info on the truck other than the price($12,9k). It must have had a custom grill and lights on it because I can't seem to find one like it online. The headlights were squared looking and they didn't go into the front fenders and they were surrounded by a painted housing. I can't seem to find one like it online to cpmare it to so I can find out what year it is. The grill seems to be one of the newer-ish grilles, but the headlights seem to be like pre-99 for some weird reason. I'll have to get a second look and take a picture of it.
Any ideas? I know I don't have much info to work with. :booo: ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- The font end looked alot like this, but the grille was chrome and the surrounding areas were color matched: http://photos.liquidmotors.com/Proce...0931182_LG.jpg |
That would be an 05 through 07 grill.

Those style of trucks are classified as the "work truck" edition. No frills, just a basic truck. If you look @ the 8th digit of the vin from the end of the vin to the (L), that will tell you the year of the truck.

Hmmm....well I had to go get some pictures of it because this was driving me crazy. What do you think of the price for this truck, ASSuming it has at least 100k miles? I'm ok with the "work truck" status. It's going to be a bike hauler/camping/take the stinky dogs to the beach kinda truck. :U:

It's got a 6.0L in it, so it's at least an 04+. I would stay away from the 6.0, lots of problems!
|
Bah, I hear it's hit or miss. Every truck has it's little problems. I'm not scared of replacing injectors and head gaskets. :choochoo:
|
I would at least do some resaerch on it, there is a guy in Cali, right now that is getting a Class action law suit going against Ford for letting the 6.0 go out the door when they knew it had all of those problems, and the list apparently was quit a bit more than the injectors. With one that has had after market stuff done to it too, you never know how it was treated, no matter what it may look like.
But that is just MHO... |
There are TONS of people, even on this site that have had -0- problems with their 6.0. The duramax has it's injector issue, the Cummins has it's VP44 that goes out every 4 miles, the PS has it's head bolts and injector issues. Not all of them are bad apples though. Some people go 100k-200k miles without any problems whatsoever on any one of these motors.
If you can find me one truck that doesn't have any known issues, defects or flaws, I'll go out and buy both of us one. :c: |
Get the vin number and get an oasis.. if you have a local dealer they might run it for you. If not, I can run someone down that can get you one.
Also, I love the people that have no direct experience with the 6.0 mouthing off about staying away from them. Head studs, and egr block off or removal and the truck is rock solid. But don't take my word for it, I only own one with 65k miles on it amd it tows my 13,000+lbs RV every camping season. |
I have heard the 03-04 have had more issues then the later years. That looks like at least and 05. Or at least I think thats when Ford went to coils in place of leafs on the front. You can never really tell from the grill because a lot of people changed the grill and headlights out to make the early superduty's look newer. I would definatley get an Oasis on it first. That will tell you everything a Ford dealer has done to it. I have seen trucks that had headgasket issues and had studs installed and never had another problem. I wouldnt run away from the 6.0. They are still a good diesel motor.
