Ah, nobody will be working on my new baby -

So, that TS 6 pos, what are the #'s on it? See a lot of people using/recommending it.

Is the GTP38R a good turbo?

Also, read a few articles - that suggest staying away from Banks - that he stopped researching and work on the 7.3 - due to a dead platform?

I'm from the Baltimore metro area - Has anyone else heard that Allison will be available for Ford in 2013/2014?

CMCA Swartzkrautheim 07-15-2012 03:40 PM

the new scorpian 6.7 is now made entirely by my ford to my understanding, the 38r is a fast spooling turbo good to i believe mid 400 horse alot of ppl use due to being a drop in replacement, and yea banks has done nothing with the 7.3s for a long while now as for the trans ive heard rumors of the allison as well as a supposed cummins option too what will come of it idk...

38r is a great stock like turbo (little more power but nothing to crazy)
a custom tuned TS chip is the way to go for any 7.3l. it really brings them to life. particularly in your case since you already have a turbo
dropping in a cummins is pointless IMO since your motor is running fine and you arnt using it as a project/race/drag truck. now if your engine was trashed to the point that it would be cheaper to drop in a cummins than rebuild yours it would make sense.
as for what is done to your trans you may call the shop where you had the work done and see if they can pull up the invoice on their side and figure out whats in it but the truth is that your truck is fairly stock so unless you are spinning big tires (36"+) you should be ok.
for EGTs 600-900 is DAMN GOOD. my truck will run 900-1200 on the freeway because of the tires. basic break down is as follows (everyone has their views and ideas on how hot to run these are just mine and by no means am i saying they are 100% safe and you will have no issues). dont go much over 1400 and if you do dont stay there very long. when towing try to stay under 1200ish.

international says you can run at 1,250* all day long and not hurt a thing.

Hey, just wanted to thank everyone for the feed back so far. Great to hear good things.

As far as the TS 6 - position chip; which model year would I go by? I have an early 99 - but with the turbo upgrade it is now set up for a late 99. Any input here?

Also, back to my original post - This noise/vibration that I am hearing/feeling - seems to happen after driving and then coming to an idle. Any ideas? :s:

CMCA Swartzkrautheim 07-16-2012 12:51 AM

actully to be like a late you need to change the injectors and the injector module BUT 99-03 should work just fine, as far as the noise goes i havnt experienced anything like that so on that one im honestly not sure, someone else should chime in though

fordornothing 07-16-2012 06:41 PM

well tell the tuner that you have a 38R. they can tune for that.

Ah! Sounds like a plan. Just work a little OT at work - and get me a new toy...

As for the problem I am expiriencing - a coworker/friend whom works on our fleet vehicles; suggest that I change the oil/filter - that it sounded like the injectors were starting to gum up.

Changed the oil - still felt to have some good viscosity to it. But, the noise seems to have dissipated /gone away for the time being. Will give her another run in the morning heading to work.

But while changing the oil & filter - had some white residue on the lower hoses, with some green dots :scare2: What would be ya'lls suggestions on this one? Water pump leaking at the seal? weep hole?

CMCA Swartzkrautheim 07-16-2012 09:12 PM

yeap sound like the weep hole, wash it good then run it and watch for where its comin from wp only takes like 40-45 min to do...

I might tackle it myself. Was going to have the local ford dealership do it. but they want 650-675 for the job(265 for the wp,coolant, labor, taxes).

Should I stick with motocraft? or is there something better out there?
