Programmer and chip stacking question

I have a 2000 7.3 f-250 4x4. I curently have a TS -6position in it. I'm only getting 12.5 mph. Can I stack a bully dog gt ( w/screen ) on top of it? I've heard good things about what the GT can do for your mph. Is it ok to stack them? What would be the possible events of this? ( good and bad) I have a heavy duty rebuilt trans and torque converter . I'm just simply looking for better MPH. Thanks guys for anybody to help me out

You can try to stack it all you want but it will not work. The TS will over ride everything.

You can not stack a chip with a programer.

Programer rewrites whats on the PCM... Chip overides whats on the PCM.

Chip wins.

What mods have you done to the truck?

If you're looking for better mph... Just back out of the throttle...

If you're looking for better mpg...Well, you're driving an 8k lb truck...

How many miles? Is the truck lifted, bigger tires? Is the truck a grocery getter or a hauler?

Bigjake 04-11-2012 09:52 AM

The truck is straight piped to duel 8 in bull haulers , I have a EGT gage and boost gage, I have 34 in nitto Tera grapplers, along with bumbers and headache racks all around . It's not a grocery getter at all. I keep out the throttle and 12.5 is the best I get on highway. The TS has 1-stock 2-high idle 3-50hp 4- 75hp 5-100 HP and 6 -140+HP all to the rear wheels. Stage 4 is the best millage I get out of my truck.. Would taking out the TS or putting it on stock and putting the bully dog in be a better option ? Would it do more for my truck? Because I know there's alot more settings.

If those are the tunes that came with the ts I'd look into custom tunes. You tell who ever u pick what you've done to ur truck, what u use it for and how u drive it and they customize the tunes for u you'd probably get better mpg's too idk how much with 34's tho.

id send it off to either beans diesel, tony wildman or some other performance shop, i had the TS tunes on my ts chip and i got the same outcome you did, 12.5 mpg, i sent mine off to beans diesel and now im getting 14 and it seems to be getting better all the time, i had a tranny flush that seemed to help also. just what my experience was.

Put stock size tires on... Take lift off... Take off heavy aftermarket bumpers and racks... change all fluids and have the injectors flow tested...check compression... Then go from there. Pick one aftermarket power adder because two is not better than one and with stock everything, one really isn't any "better" than the other...

:nice: Yep, 7.3 don't take to stacking like 6.6 Dmaxes or CR Cummins applications. Like others have said, ditch the lift, big tires (your wheel bearings will thank you) and other forms of unnecessary weight (bumpers, winches etc etc). New fluids in the drive train and engine, compression check and then custom tunes will help but don't expect miracles with a 7000-8500 # truck.

Im in the same boat, I have a stock TS chip but I am running 6" lift & 37" Toyos and I get 12.7mpg on position #4... (all hand calculated of course)

I waiting to get mine reburned by PHP.. Hopefully within a few weeks it will done.
