ts chip for an 01 vs 99 the same chip???

in other words, my chip is for my 01 7.3 with an automatic, and my buddies truck is a 99 with an auto and wondering if i need to get the chip reburnt or its the same???

It will need a reburn unless he has the same PCM code...

If his is a late 99 it will work fine. If his is an early 99 it may work with a few minor issues.

I am running NMM tuning on my PMT pcm. It does not have to be from the same PCM code, just the same PCM family.

so how do i tell if his pcm is from the same 'family'??? i doubt he knows if his truck is a late 99 or not.

You would have to pull the PCM to find out for sure...

Its easy to find out if its a E vs L 99...

Look at the intake Y... If it has a intake air heater its a late 99... If not, its an early.

If it has two relays in the valley its a late, if not its an early.
