1000 hp

wat would i have to consider when building one of these...
the question i basically trying to ask is are there any sall maticulous things that i can knock out now so i wont need to worry about replacing them later

future plan is to get engine reman through wide open performance and BTS tranny rebuild
wat other small things can i do to get that high without nitrous of course

Re: 1000 hp

1000hp will not happen without n2o unless you converted it to mechanical injection. Everything in your drive train will have to be upgraded to supper that kind of power.

Lange503 03-20-2011 02:54 PM

good luck lol like said above me you will have to do about everything, to get the truck to handle that kind of power, and by all means your daily driving will be LONG gone at that power range in a 7.3

riddick01 03-20-2011 03:47 PM

like said above if it came with the engine from the factory its gunna have to be replaced or reworked.

Lange503 03-21-2011 06:14 PM

if you'd like a list anyways let know, we can sure as hell get you a wish list to start on

OceanDiesel 03-21-2011 08:55 PM

The highest I've seen without NOS or mechanical injection is mid-700's. ALOT of $$$ is needed to cross that 4 digit mark.

sure man i would apprecitate that

Lange503 03-23-2011 12:12 PM

billet rods
girdle
push rods
valve springs
intercooler
BUILT transmission
terminator oil system
either a monster single or a twin set up, or possibly a good sized single and a procharger?
some 400/400 injectors
and a good amount of nitrous

i'm sure i'm leaving some stuff out so anyone else feel free to add or edit that, just kind of a quick few things i could think of off the top of my head :pca1:

liftitup0930 03-23-2011 04:39 PM

sounds like you have a long list of things you need to do... lol.. how much money you plan on spendin to get your truck where you want it?

Lange503 03-24-2011 12:44 AM

he'll be in it an EASY 18k i bet the girdle take a lot of man hours machining the block and such, billet rods are about 2700, girdle is about 1500, injectors that size are around 3000, the oil system is about 2500, built trans is 4500, then the turbo set up can range anywhere from 2k and up intercooler about 1600, push rods and springs around 600 including both so like 17k just in parts? then not to mention all the machining and labor if he can't do it himself

cumminstexas 03-24-2011 02:12 AM

You'd have to consider putting a cummins in it

joebob3093 03-24-2011 02:41 AM

Re: 1000 hp

Why would you have to put a cummins in it?

ttam07 03-24-2011 11:06 AM

how much of that would sending the enginein to WOP cover because as prviously said thats the plan and ive alrady got the tranny job lined up through BTS so jw :humm:

joebob3093 03-24-2011 11:28 AM

Re: 1000 hp

I think WOP fully built race engine is around $15,000

ttam07 03-24-2011 11:40 AM

which that should cover everything except the injectors i think ill give them a call today just to see

oh and for that cummins comment i am a huge 7.3 fan 286k and still working great so.... i think ill stick with my 7.3

joebob3093 03-24-2011 01:12 PM

Re: 1000 hp

That's 15,000 for a long block. You still have to buy injectors, oil pumps and turbos even to get it to run

liftitup0930 03-24-2011 01:17 PM

yes it is going to be an easy 18000.... thats without the engine rebuild.. but hey.. it will all be worth it just to make my baby happy :) love you ttam07

95-SimpsonOBS 03-24-2011 02:41 PM

wouldnt you also have to have drivelines and axels that could handle that or will the stock ones do it?

riddick01 03-24-2011 03:29 PM

id put the price at around 30,000 if u call a builder say i want 1000 hp and write him a check.

The Sterling 10.5 is a tough SOB, would not need to do anything to it really.

Drivelines will not require work unless your going to be sled pulling or drag racing every day.

Rustin 03-27-2011 03:43 AM

Your right smart to go to WOP! Zane is a master in all things diesel. He has even built some cummins engines that are ripping up the circuit! Zane and his staff will listen to you, and let you know what the best plan of action for what you want to do.

1000 HP 7.3

Y'all need to do more research, l have a 01 7.3 near1000hp mark, l have about 20k in the engine alone, intact lm dyno'd at 1058hp so it can be done, lm a heavy equipment mechanic so l know my diesels

joebob3093 12-31-2016 02:48 AM

and if you look at the dates of this post its almost 6 years ago. 1000hp in a 7.3 was almost unheard of at that time.
