check the glow plug wires for voltage...glow plugs arent that hard to replace

my guess would be the glow plugs.. had them go out on a 97 7.3 here two days ago.. its -15 degrees right now so it wouldnt run and we pulled it inside the show let it sit and it fired up.. replaced plugs and its fine

if you HAVE to be somewhere, unplug your glow plug relay and then give it a teeny tiny wiff of starting fluid.... but replacing them would be much better if possible, i got stuck in Laramie, Wyoming and had to do that, got me home and didn't bend a push rod or anything :tu:

Check the relay, make sure the plug and wire for your block heater is good as well as the outlet that it plugged into.

i'd check the gp relay first. it's easier to replace than the glow plugs.

CSIPSD 11-28-2010 09:05 PM

Check the Glow Plug relay with a test light. With the key in the run pos the GPR should be energized for about 1-2 minutes. If the GPR is not working then there is your issue (most common is the GPR)...

Plug it in for about 2-3 hours and it will fire right up as well...

Get it the hell out of the FORD shop before they hit you with a $400-$600 bill.
