How do I tell if my truck can have PTO?

I want to put PTO on my truck but how can I tell if it is PTO ready?

Should be a port on the side of the tranny... IIRC its on the passanger side...

7.3 Cowboy 07-13-2010 12:07 AM

WHat kind of port, just a plate thats bolted on to the side?

CSIPSD 07-13-2010 12:17 PM

Yup, its a 3-4" by 4-6" port with 4 bolts on it. I have only seen one in my time...:humm:

I don't think you can get a powerstroke truck that isn't PTO capable

stephenjr 07-14-2010 08:45 PM

whats pto?

7.3 Cowboy 07-14-2010 11:44 PM

power take off

CL-14 07-14-2010 11:46 PM

PTO stands for power take off. its like what a tractor uses on the rear end to power hay grinders and other goodies. on trucks if i am correct it is used to power hydrullic systems which will in turn power air compressors and other goodies.
