Having issues, please help

I had an oil leak when i first bought my truck but i knew that it was just the fitting on the HPOP, but its been a week or so and now there is a new leak somewhere on top toward the front of the engine and its not the fitting anymore, any ideas?:ouch:

Clean everything really well and start looking. I would bet it is the pump seal, but it could be any number of things all having to do with the HPO pump.

^^ What he said. Wash everything, add dye and re-evaluate.

Did you change ALL the O-Rings on the pump? Theres 3 of them I think that leak pretty commonly.

where is the HPO pump seal located? :humm: I looked quickly at my engine today and most of the oil is running to the rear of the engine and running down the bell housing on the tranny, would that still be the HPOP or something else maybe

oil leak problems

:U:check your valve pan gaskets as this is a common site for leakage and seepage. Hope this helps....Bob...

There is only a few places a 7.3 will leak in the valley. The HP Oil Pump, HP Oil Lines and Turbo Pedestal O-Rings. Get some Simple Green and clean up the valley real good. Start her up and see if you can find the leak. I used my camera to find my leak by sicking it down in the valley and taking a few pics...

hey guys i found it, its an oil sensor on the head that has almost a stream of oil coming from it at 2000 RPMs, I haven't taken the sensor out to get a closer look to see whats wrong with it exactly but at least I found it. :yeah:

There is only one sensor coming out of the head, the ICP sensor. It will run you about $150 from ford, but you can find them cheaper on flebay from time to time...

alright, is there an o-ring that could be the problem too or is the sensor its own seal? Thanks for the sensor info too :U: hopefully getting a cheaper one if i can find one

There is an O ring at the top if the sensor, they rarely leak there. If there is oil coming out of the top of the sensor its toast. Even if its just leaking, its toast. It will send all kinds of weird readings to the PCM. You can try tightening the ICP sensor and the leak might stop...

To be sure, the sensor you have leaking is at the front of the drivers side head?

powerstroker13 10-07-2009 09:47 PM

Yes it's on the front of the driver side head, where it's leaking is right above the hex part that u tighten it to the head with so I'm guessing the sensors toast but i'll try tightening it just to make sure, thanks

blk99 10-07-2009 10:15 PM

yea the sensor is toast... if its leaking anywhere but around the threads goin into the head (meaning bad oring), its toast... i have an extra but its toast too... LOL... sorry...

ugh...alright looks like im getting a new one :ouch:...thanks for the offer LOL

CSIPSD 10-08-2009 07:43 PM

I have three or four in differant levels of toast ness... Keep the old one if it is still working, you will have a back up if something goes bad.

powerstroker13 10-09-2009 01:05 PM

yeah, that's probably a good idea because this one still works but it leaks a lot. Thanks for all the help :U:

powerstroker13 10-17-2009 04:51 PM

alright i replaced the sensor and guess what...no more oil on my driveway or on my engine :yeah: thanks for all your help

powerstroker13 11-19-2009 06:16 PM

ok so i replaced the sensor almost stopped the oil leakage and now it looks like the turbo pedestal o-ring, how do i get to that to get it off?
