its pretty low on a tune,

i would pm a sponsor on here and get a good pyro guage

get an over boost aniroid goes inline of the map sensor (fools the sensor so it doesn defuel above 25psi)

maybe get a new boost guage or borrow a friends and compare your numbers.

Your pistons are made of aluminum, which starts to melt at about 1250*, but your pistons are also being cooled by oil cooling jets that spray the bottom of the piston. Also, air temp (EGT) and material temps are two differant things.

1250* sustanined is a good red line to keep. 10-20-30 seconds above that will not cause your motor to blow up. You have to think of heat soak, if your lugging a trailer for hours at 1100-1200 degrees and the jump to pass someone, its going to take a lot less time to do damage then if you were sitting in traffice at 500-600* and go to pass someone.

14-18 is about normal boost numbers for a stock truck. Throw a mild tune and 20-25 is normal, a hot tune will show 25-30 or more on stock injectors. You need a overboost regulator from a company like ITP Diesel, it will keep your MAP sensor from seeing above 22psi (which then trys to defuel the truck).

Bottom line I think you have a bad gauge.

I would go with Auto meter series thats what I run, no problems what so ever, boost leak like said possibly I run a banks monster idling im running 250-300 and driving around its around 650 degrees. A good exhaust system is a must for a diesel in my opinion hope you find whats wrong bud. :yeah:
