P0308 help
 

Anybody have any helpful info? I have a 2000 F350 powerstroke, It throughs a code P0308, #8 misfire, I dont notice the engine misfiring at all. I have already replaced the cam sensor, fuel filter, and checked the harness and connectors. Is there a way to verify the injector is really bad before replacing it?

I'm guessing you cleared the code and started from scratch?
Could be an injector, Could be a problem in the PCM, Also could be IDM, Low oil, Old Oil, Valvecover Harness.

Alot of trucks will fail a cont test on #8 due to Fords new Cam sensor... I would bet you have one of there very special gray CPS's now... Junk!

The light was on when I purchaced the truck.(3 months ago) I started with changing the oil, fuel filter and checked the harness from the outside connector all the way to the injector. cleared the code and it came back within 100 miles. Then took it to ford to get the update done with the CPS (replaced it) codes were cleared again, and again within 100 miles... on again. Planing on replacing the injector just looking for a way to test it first. Thanks

a KOEO test will show electrical failures, and KOER and Balance test will give you a good idea if the injector is truly incorrectly firing or not firing at all!

Thats one for Joe, I know its a diffrent injector or somthing of that nature, but I'm a diagnostics expert, Not a powerstroke expert :pals: :U:

it depends... if at some point in the trucks life someone took the truck in for a "cackle" noise, there will be a Long Lead injector in the #8 hole.... if that was never done, then NO, the #8 injector is NOT different.... a Long Lead injector will say "LL" right on the solenoid and usually the connector is a different color (like blue).... pull the VC's and see if you have one... back cylinder, driver side....


you need to find either a new or known good BLACK CPS.... that grey one is a pile of crap, wether thats your problem or not....

Good info other then all 7.3's from late 99 on have the LL AE in the #8 hole... But it really doesnt matter, stick a good AD injector in there and go to town...

You could also try swaping the #8 injector with the #4 and see if your problem follows your hole...:humm: that just doesnt sound right....
