7.3 psd won't heat up?

I have a 2001 psd that i replaced the thermostate, waterpump and gave it a raditor flush. The engine over heating problem is cured now, but now the engine temp guage won't budge after 30 min of idling and a 12 mile trip. I felt the radiator hose it was luke warm, there is no heat coming from the heater it blows cold air. Any help is greatly appreciated...tony:argh:

Wouldn't hurt to check the t-stat and see if it isn't stuck open.

I just installed a new one, but i will double chec it. Do think this would cause the heater not to work also? Reason i ask such a stupid question is the heat stop working before the engine started over heating.

yeah check that thermostat, just cause its new dont mean it works right. Seems like alot of people been having problem like this with Dodges not just the Fords. It would have something to do with your heating problem too. if the anti freeze isnt warming up then there aint no heat exchange in the heater core to heat the cab. the only thing that worries me is that you said it started when the overheating problem started:humm:

With a stuck open t-stat, you got full circulation. Hence the extremely slow warm up and a cause for excessive wear on the engine.

recheck the thermostat by pulling it and dropped it a pot of boiling water,It opened when removed and allowed to cool it closed...:humm: qny suggestions?

your radiator cap on tight??:humm:

Low coolant level, both hoses warm/hot coming off the heater core?

tony ramsey 12-19-2008 04:31 AM

radiator cap tight.... Coolant level is full top hose gets semi warm It's not hot to the touch. The heater core hoses are cold not even warm, The A/C hoses actually have frost on them even when the control button is on heat mode. Could a bad control panel cause this? [ still the engine should heat up]

Try blocking the front of the radiator with cardboard. Also, keep the heater fan on low.
