Why do you want to go to older motor? Is the one in your truck now shot? Jw.

There is way to much to do to get a 96 to work in a new one

it can be done. but you have to transfer alot of things over. like turbo, injectors, wiring, intake parts...

the motor is older but has 150 000 on the clock for $400 where a 02 7.3 with 200+ miles goes for $1500. just thought it was worth a shot .i think my motor just needs to be rebuilt but i have to try the cheapest/easiest route .with my luck id spend alot of time tearing into my motor for rebuild purposes to find a crack somewhere no good and still have to buy a new one .

all it would take it swapping a few parts over

twinboys 07-22-2012 09:11 AM

Who would swap parts to save $1100?

lemonjello 07-22-2012 03:44 PM

@ joebob ( or any body else), could you gimme a basic break down of the parts that may need to be switched aside from a couple of sensors. that would be great .tha

if you look at my last post, i did...

wiring is the biggest thing, then the turbo, intake plenums, uppipes, depending on the year maybe the drivers side manifold. the accessories on the front, as the alternator and AC pump is on the opposite sides.
