Sounds like you have a short IN the driver's side battery. After they are both charged up, disconnect the ground cables from both batteries, then check them individually in the morning. That internal control module error is probably from dead batteries. That code shows up when they are disconnected. Could also be why the scanner quits working, truck dies, etc.

Supposed to be "newer" optimas! As soon as this ipr is rebuilt and it will run I will buy two new batteries. Changed the oil today because there is no telling how old the oid the oil is. If it will stay running longer than it has I will be cool. Do you think the batteries is my problem to begin with?

Verify bad battery before buying new ones. It is only a hunch. A shop that sells batteries should be able to test them with their fancy testers.

New oil is imperative in a powerstroke. Old oil gets foamy and makes a very poor hydraulic fluid for the injectors. Old oil will give the exact symptoms you noted. It might take a hundred miles or so to get the old oil flushed from the oil rails. Try this before replacing the O-rings.

I know the guy is in th arm an was an Alaska when deployed too Iraq, then whenhe got back he Drove to his new base in tenn, Where he was deployed to afaganistan. Then he traded the truck to me because he simply never drove it. It had 97k miles on it when he bought in Alaska in 2007 and it has 114k now. I assume the oil hadn't been changed in a while and had personal concerns the oil was crap. Since a newbie to psd, how often should it be changed?

I have already bought the IPR reaseal kit. Changing the top end oil, oil in the crankcase and filter in the morning. I'll keep ya posted

Haveastroke 01-13-2012 11:16 AM

Ipr reseal kit fixed it. I wanna thank everyone that helped me

twinboys 01-13-2012 12:41 PM

You sound confident it was the ipr reseal kit. Did you change the oil?

Any word on the batteries?

Haveastroke 01-14-2012 02:59 AM

Ipr o-ring was torn, so we replaced them, Then changed the oil. Runs like a champ now. The drivers Side optima red top swelled up and was steaming hot, but the cables were not at all hot so I took the spare battery from my mud truck and put it in it's place. Drove another 100 miles and seems ok!
