how would it work as an exhaust brake if you cant control when it kicks on? make the plug go to a switch? one last question first start in morning mostly when cold 25 to 35 degrees alternator put out no charge at ilde? alternator failing. they have always just gone out on me

Your glow plugs are working hard as hell on that first cold start of the day. Thats why there's two big ole' batteries (the bigger the better!) |
go to swampsdiesel.com. they have a write up on there.

Ok thanks alot guys you been alot of help but the alternator only doesn't charge when its cold weather at idle. And that plug for pressure exhaust valve is under intake side of turbo? and to unplug it, it is the one I would half to pull toward the front of the truck?
The truck doesn't make charge at idle on the first cold start because the GP's suck all the power. After the gp's shut off, the truck will begin charging like normal.
can i see a picture of where that plug is, and unpluging it will anycodes be thrown. i was on swamp diesel but i couldnt open anything. how do i make it an exhaust brake? unplug the plug and run it straight to a swtch?
The plug is right under the intake side of the turbo. It's very obvious.
Yes you connect it to a switch. I suggest a 3way switch; On, Off, and Stock (which means the truck can use it when it wants to).
