Sounds like you have a cracked piston. While its running remove the oil fill cap. Flip it over and set it down on the top of the fill tube. It will vibrate off, but it should not blow off.

Oil out the tail pipe is blown turbo or too much crank case pressure pushing oil out the turbo seals.

White smoke is RAW fuel... Ie too much fuel.

Blue smoke is typically oil related

Black is fuel.

White can also be coolant, but is also accompanied by a very sweet smell, where as fuel will burn your eyes.

White can also be too little fuel, Joe.

I've seen it with dead fuel pumps.....
Crank, crank, crank..... white smoke haze out of the exhaust. Not enough to combust. Granted, it doesn't smoke very long.....15 seconds of cranking (not constant) and it's done smoking at all.

well good news is i took the truck to the shop this morning and i started it up and he said it had to do with having too much back pressure. what would be causing this and how can i fix it?

get an exhaust... you want the turbo (from what I understand, chime in if im wrong guys) to have the same amount of back pressure as boost that it's creating, so it runs 1:1 ideally. Our trucks down pipes are very restrictive, and the restriction of exhaust gasses will build up back pressure, so I would start with a more free flowing exhaust

But on the same token Id get a second opinion because everyone one here with a stock truck, like yours, would be having the same or similar problems if it were directly related to back pressure and back pressure only

to make the turbo thing make a little sense, it helped me, the turbo will create its own back pressure thats why you can run straight exhaust on these trucks, with out harming them. So, open it up as much as you can

well i told hom to keep it and see if he can figure out whats causing it and how to fix it. as soon as i get it back its going to the exhaust place and gettin 3 inch downpipe into 4 inch tubing to my 8 inch stack. that should open her up:tu: i appreciate everyones help and will let you know the solution to the problem as soon as they tell me. hopefully its not too expensive.

Don't let a muffler shop over charge you the DP on line is about 100 bucks or less shipped, I like to support local shops and the muffler shop here wanted 225 for a mbrp DP. So obviously I had to pass, do you're homework

[[ChRiS]] 01-15-2011 05:24 PM

yeah i can get a 3 inch shipped to my door for 100$...... got the truck back today and they said they had a guy from ford come hook a computer to it and said the turbo had something wrong in it causing it to have too much backpressure and blow oil out the exhaust. ughhh im getting sick and tired of this turbo bs.
