If the middle o-ring on an injector was leaking, would oil be showing up in the fuel via the fuel return?
|
Yes...
Copper keeps the injector sealed to the cup, bottom keeps the fuel from the copper, middle keeps the oil from the fuel, top keeps the oil in the injector and out of the valve train... I know this because there is one tattoed on my arm... http://inlinethumb49.webshots.com/17...600x600Q85.jpg |
And there you have it !

---AutoMerged DoublePost--- I need to pull my number five injector again to see if the same o-ring is burnt out due to hot high pressure oil getting by. I do not remember if it was top or middle o-ring... I am getting a 1211 code at precisely 2465 psi. I think it may be the point at which the o-ring surrenders due to a poor seal in the bore. I havn't noticed any oil in fuel, but the code automatically backs down the ipr, so not much would leak by anyhow. I have eliminated everything else. I fear I may need a new head. |
More then likely its a cup that is causing your issue.
|
I sure hope so. I have one cup and a new o-ring kit (for one injector). After inspecting, I will be buying a tool if that is where the problem is. Only the bottom o-ring rides in the cup, correct?
|
yes, but if there is an issue with the cup it will not seal correctly. You dont have any fuel in your coolant?
|
No fuel in coolant.

Another clue...blue smoke at start-up... Think It's related?
