Ebpv removel

I am removing the ebpv from my 97 psd. The sensor that runs to the right side manfold is it needed. I was thinking i could run my egt probe in that hole. What u guys think.

Not sure what sensor you are talking about. Any chance you can post a picture of it?

Your EGT probe belongs in the drivers side exhaust manifold, close to the uppipe...

I was all was told to put the egt prob in the down pipe.

Its the sensor thats just above ur hpop. Looks just like our icp sensor.

Absolutely not...

What are you measuring? Exhaust gas temps... Why? Because you don't want to do internal damage especially to your pistons... So wouldn't you want to measure your temps closest to the cylinders? If you measure temps in the downpipe, you are measuring a cooler temperature than what is actually occuring just outside your cylinders... Could be a couple hundred degrees cooler in the downpipe...

I think the sensor needs to stay...

Thats what i thought but every one i know puts it in the down pipe right by the turbo.

Every temperature that they see is a few hundred degrees cooler than they should be seeing. So when they push it to 1100-1200 degrees, they are really seeing more than that and it could cause a problem... But they are cool cuz they have gauges they don't even understand what they are monitoring or why...

I get u. I didnt understand y they put it there. But so i couldnt run it on the right side. Becaues there is a place on there i could put it.

There is a flat spot on the drivers side manifold right before it turns up into the uppipe... Thats where you drill and tap..

Awsome. Thanks. What u got for me on the ebpv removel.

95powersmoker 10-31-2012 10:25 PM

I got nothing. I think the sensor stays. Just some fab work and a freeze plug to delete the actuator on the turbo pedistal. Or just buy a new pedistal. or just unplug the EBPV like I do so it doesn't do it's job.
