Hows the reliability?

I have a 2008 F-350 with 30,000 on it. I was wondering what kind of miles people have on them and how they are holding up? Thanks

PSD-BLACK-CLOUD 10-11-2010 03:28 PM

they are better than the 6.0 but not as good as the 7.3. but if you dont go crazy with your mods it will run a good while

6.4L-KingRanch 10-20-2010 08:53 PM

2008 F-350 KING RANCH 4X4 COPPER - SCT LIVEWIRE EXTREME, 4" DPF/CAT DELETE, 350HP INNOVATIVE DIESEL CUSTOM TUNE - 600 HP AND 23 MPG - IM DYING TO LIGHT MY TIRES UP, BUT I STILL HAVE NOT - IM STILL BABYING IT, AS I MAY BE DRIVING IT FOR YEARS TO COME !! I HAVE A FLIP OVER B&W GOOSENECK HITCH - ANYONE KNOW SOMEONE WHO NEEDS ONE - WILL SELL FOR A FEW HUNDRED- ATL,GA -

Superstroker10 10-21-2010 12:00 AM

got 67k on mine and its runs good other than i blew the trans apart on the dyno.. best thing to do for longivity:

tune (MODERATE),dpf/doc delete and an intake.. bumps the mpg's way up and will never put diesel in the oil due to not regening.. plus at that stage if you keep the power output to a minimum you wont have to worry about much going wrong persay.. but every one and ever truck is different.

gunman41mag 10-21-2010 11:27 AM

I think it's a coin toss, I hear alot of people having problem with their 6.4, I have 32,100 miles & it's still running:humm:

BVERFEVER 10-22-2010 06:24 AM

185000km (111000 miles) and still running.

6.4dieselpower 10-26-2010 06:36 PM

I have the CAT/DPF deletes with an S&B intake, i know that will help it with longevity. I was just wondering if anyone has up to 200,000, and wondering how its doing

Jared @ RiceFamilyFarmINC 10-26-2010 08:14 PM

I have 19,000 and dad has 22,000.. so we cant really contest, but god dang we both love our trucks!

Have 08 job #1. Have 24,000 miles, not one problem. Installed Banks intake and exhaust, along with 6 gun tuner.

WorkStroke 12-05-2010 09:21 PM

I have had my '10 for 4 months and 14,000 miles, and I am greatly dissapointed. It has been running like shit. When its in Regen, sitting at a redlight the truck will start missing and shaking the truck, and on ocassion it will spit and sputter on take off and blow white smoke. and other times, you can lay into it and it will cut out, loose power like it is not getting fuel. Taking it in tuesday....:dang:

toy4xchris 12-08-2010 08:43 PM

mine has a around 19,000 and likes to sit in my storage spot. I personally think its just like anything else in life you can get a a winner or a loser and I got a loser

6.0 kiddo 12-08-2010 11:20 PM

My buddy has 149,xxx on his 08 King Ranch, SCT Livewire, dpf/cat delete, 5" MBRP dual exit exhaust, S&B intake... all he does is routine maintenance... Only thing hes replaced was front hubs at 140k. He loves it and all the power... plus the 21 MPG he gets makes me jealous with my 6.0! Im thinking about trading up!

99stackedpowerstroke 12-08-2010 11:55 PM

they will hold up!!!! my buddy friend bought one that the front end got smashed by a dump truck, didnt harm motor he fixed it up, its a dully and with a 240 tune on it, it will still kick it side ways running 70 if you hammer down for jesus, with 87,000 miles

gunman41mag 12-09-2010 07:50 PM

I have 34,300 miles on my 6.4:tu:

PSD-BLACK-CLOUD 12-09-2010 11:32 PM

24,500 not problems that I didnt cause.

shrek1 12-31-2010 09:01 PM

110,000 km on mine , drive train stock , had a manual burn done twice , one at 60k another at 106k , runs great , looking for a tune and delete shortly

gunman41mag 12-31-2010 09:52 PM

THREE things you must do to your 6.4 (1) M U S T drain the water out of the fuel ONCE a month(2) M U S T change your oil by 5,000 miles(3) M U S T change your two fuel filters no later than 15,000 miles. Do these three things & your 6.4 will last:tu:

I hope i can get the reliability that 3/4 of owners say they have. The other 1/4 seem to have alot of trouble, so far so good at 34,000.

joeg 01-29-2011 09:22 PM

i dont think any psd will be like the 7.3 as bullet proof

i have 109,000 on my truck no problems except with tranny it doesnt seem to dont shift right like at a yield if i dont come to a complete stop and get back on the throtle is seem to be in like nutral the slams into gear and i dont drive it hard , i do have 350hp innovative extream tune dpf delete ,s&b cold air intack, fitch fuel cat, replaced all oil with royal purple and zmax it has huge power and 23 mpg love it but i hear egr delete is great and delete the cat. i can say that my boss filled up my truck with gas and drove it 100 miles shut it off because it was running hard and figured out what he did it didnt hurt anything flushed it replaced diesel and it runs perfict

cattle auctioneer 02-02-2011 08:39 PM

Any probs with dfp delete

How is everyone gettin along with dpf delete? I'm wanting to do something to my recently purchased 08 F350 just better fuel mpg not so much more hp but a couple ponies wouldn't hurt.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

When did you put the delete on?

gunman41mag 02-02-2011 09:33 PM

Today at 36,073 my check engine light turn on & the truck is only giving me 10 MPG instead of 13.5 to 14.3 MPG:td::dang::argh:

gunman41mag 02-04-2011 08:39 PM

WEIRD, The check engine light went away by itself:humm:

6.4dieselpower 02-08-2011 01:41 PM

Do the DPF delete. Get the pipe that deletes the CAT and the DPF. You will lengthen the life of the truck and get better MPGs

Greenshield 02-10-2011 10:09 AM

48,000 and a few. No problems. I tow all camping season and it is my DD. I just put the S&B CAI on and I went from 16.7 MPG combined to almost 19 combined. I have long commutes and little city traffic. I am putting on a Spartan Phalanx and Powerstroke67's DPF/CAT delete this weekend. I only need a 4" to 3.5. inch adapter and I'm good to go on the swap out. I am looking for a 4 inch DPF back exhaust, used. I have gotten everything off the different forums thus far and it is worth it price-wise. I will also be putting on EGR block plates with the tunes. I will post new hand calculated numbers. Things should be well into the low 20's, maybe a hair better once the summer blend fuel is back.

911regular 03-08-2011 08:04 PM

About 31000 miles so far,,,one radiator went bad and one EGR valve so far, and now possibly my turbo is leaking. Though I have a fair amount of mods, so it is hard to say if it is a reliability issue or too many mods. SCT tuner, DPF/cat/Muffler delete, Bombproof EGR coolers, AFE intercooler, Banks intake. 8"lift, 37" Toyos. Either way love the truck.

EasternAggie 04-21-2011 01:11 AM

why not just an EGR delete with all of that?

rfp60 09-08-2011 01:56 PM

IVE got a 2008 with 140000 and running like a champ

PSD-BLACK-CLOUD 09-19-2011 10:41 PM

43,000 no problems still:rocking: all hard miles

gunman41mag 09-20-2011 05:33 AM

44,700 miles, drive it like I stole it, no problems:yeah:

Powersmokin32 10-01-2011 02:25 PM

150,000 miles on my dads 08 and it is officially dead:argh:
Dropped a valve recently along with multiple problems in the past like bad EGR, bad DPF, blown head gaskets 3x, broke rocker arm 2x, broke turbo, bad radiator 3x and a few other problems.

But I stepped up and finally called Rudy's Diesel Performance and they are helping me out with a new motor. And if I can talk my dad into(he don't like spending the money on big HP diesels) then maybe delete everything and do ARP studs and start hopping it up!!!

BVERFEVER 10-03-2011 10:08 PM

145000 miles on my 08.:tu: No DPF problems, got rid if it. EGR, yup changed that once. Did all the injectors & pump at 58000 miles,:scare2: dealership claimed bad fuel.:bat: No warranty but insurance covered it.:jump: Other than that no tranny problems, head or turbo problems. Runs great for now. Almost time for an upgrade, for sale, want to buy it?
