That's why, no big deal, it wont hurt anything. Just from the EGR delete, the PCM is seeing a lack of EGR flow and tosses the code.

Update

Leaving work today when I started up my truck it sounded like a leak under the truck. Sounded like a lot of air. Got home left it running and felt around couldn't find it but still heard it. Found a little bit of soot on the fire wall right below the over flow tank. Seeing as im just getting started with diesel. Im thinking ill leave this one to my diesel tech.

The fix is going to be pretty easy. If you dont feel comfortable, thats ok. Walk around with your tech, and watch what he looks for, and learn what you can from him.

Sounds like the y-pipe is cracked in the back, it's really the only thing that will have that loud whistle too. Maryland Performance Diesel has a set of upgraded pipes on sale now too...

I will definitely upgrade to those if that's the problem.

If im not mistaken cracked y pipe sounds like a dry bearing or a squeeling belt. (?)

Forgot to mention I smelled exhaust through my ac. Didn't realize that could be from cracked y pipes. Always figured it was my diesel soaked work boots :nope:

While driving home today I thought it sounded similar to those also.

I havent done too much reading up on cracked pipes, but from what i understand, those are the audible symptoms. Does the whistle quiet down after the truck is warm?

Mine would whistle ear piercingly loud when I first fired it up, but it would go away as the truck would warm up. That was a cracked up-pipe.

If it's cracked, you will definitely smell exhaust in the cab. It will smell like exhaust though, not raw fuel too.

Haven't smelled raw fuel to often. Not to sure of the difference. It not very strong tho and the whistle doesn't go down when it heats up. It is an ear piercing whistle tho.
