glow plugs
 

I am in the process of replacing head gaskets and when I removed the glow plugs oil came out with each one. Is that normal?

I just pulled 8 glow plugs out of a spare set of heads here and there was oil on all of them too. I don't think I'd worry about it.:c:

oil on the glowpugs is normal when you take them out. usually runs down the hole from head when they are loosened

normal. had the same on my 7.3. geting ready to GP on the wifes 6.0

Hosser, be REAL careful when you're pulling the GP harness out of the rocker boxes, they are pretty much guaranteed to break...

Thanks hosser, mdub, I tow some and Im too lazy to readjust my manual mirrors hahaha, after once or twice i decided to let em hang in the wind

is there a way to prevent that? or just walk on egg shells taking it off. i know i had no trouble with the 7.3. thanks for the heads up mdub.

aussie 8's, snap on makes a junky tool thats supposed to make it easy, waste of money in my opinion. usually the oring is siezed in there and even with the tool it will snap the top of plastic connector then you gotta go ahead and grab the wire and pull it out, I usually recomend replacing the harnesses for this reason. it doesnt damage the wire when the plastic breaks but because you have to pull on the wire to get the connector out it could pull the terminal out then its junk

soder time. no i would replace it as well. it just seems that every where you see those plastic clips they always break. they look like they are designed to come apart but they never do. :ouch:

The only way I know of, is when we're taking heads off, I leave them in the rocker boxes, yank the rocker boxes off and push them out from the backside with a socket, then they never break. If you have to pull them from the outside, just plan on buying the harness too, especially if you're doing 8 of them... you're bound to break some.
