2003 F350 6.0l oil leak

I have a 6.0l that is leaking oil and I'm having a tough time locating it. It is leaking somewhere at the rear of engine but the odd thing is that it only leaks after the engine is shut off. Running, no leaks but shut it off and a few minutes later there is a good size puddle. I've removed the turbo assembly to include the bracket and it is fairly dry. The rear of the heads are wet but would that leak after shut down? Any help would be great.

The early 6.0s are notorious for a leaking ICP sensor, it is the small sensor that is on the cast iron cover at the rear of the valley, that cover is over top of the high pressure oil pump for the injectors. just look on the driversside of that cover, there might be a heat sheild blocking part of your view, either push it out of the way or unbolt it,normally with the degas bottle out and FICM removed it is pretty easy to do. Good luck

Thanks for the information, I will check that out first thing in the morning.

Well the leak appears to be coming from the high output pump cover. Just puzzles me how it will leak that much oil after the engine is off and nothing while running. I'll put it back together and hope for the best.

You park the vehicle facing up hill?

I did while it was running but to also allow the water to run off after I steamed cleaned it. The oil didnt start to leak until after I shut it down and was on a flat surface.

its the ICP sensor, it is common.

I'll check that, thank you.

What type of RTV would you recommend for the back of the HP oil pump cover? It is my understanding that I should apply some type of RTV on the back corners before reinstalling.

either Black or Copper, clean the surface with some brake clean first

Ok, got it back together and fired up straight way. Oil leak is gone however I developed a coolant leak at the blue connector between the EGR cooler and oil cooler. Darn pin hole. Now to replace it.
