Glad it worked out for you,,,pinholes suck

Was it a bad idea to put Lucas stop leak in the 6.0l? Vehicle ran great after all the work I did, then all of a sudden it died and will not start again. Similiar symptoms to my no start last year with the HPOP.

I would double check all your connections, especially on the FICM, something might have not been on all the way then popped loose

What kind of reading shouild I get through the ICP? My scanner is showing just under 600 while cranking.

What's IPR duty cycle?

Also you need to check desired ICP against actual ICP, and compare those two. As long as they're close to each other, and IPR duty cycle isn't spiking up way high, you're probably fine.

580 sounds close to normal for idling, not sure about actually cranking, but again, more importantly we want desired and actual close... Check those and get back to us.

If I remember right, you need to see at least 500psi for the truck to fire so you should be allright as far as the ICP,

How can I check the IPR duty cycle? My scanner doesn't read it. Can I have a stuck IPR and not trip a code?

Mdub707 08-17-2011 07:42 AM

Usually if there is an issue, IPR duty cycle will spike up towards 75% or more maybe. Normally it's down around 25%. What scanner are you using? If the IPR was "stuck" you'd be having other issues. You can always pull the IPR and give it a good cleaning.

We have a Solus Pro by Snap On. I didnt see anything under the data screen that would reference an IPR reading. I'm going to pull the IPR now and check it however without the special socket I may need to pull the turbo again. My initial problem was oil leaks so I fixed those and sent the truck out. I also through in some Lucas stop leak and wonder if that caused my problem. Anyway, three hours later it would not start. Cranks very strong and sounds as if it wants to fire but won't. I did an injector buzz test, as well as check for fuel and also check all my grounds and connections.

It's quite possible the stop leak is doing something... There's no way I'd put anything like that in my truck. I can't imagine what something that is supposed to form a seal and stop a leak would do to injectors that are fired off of this same oil. :humm:
