20" wheels....

Have an 07 w/ 20" wheels. Went to price tires and i about s*** myself!!!!!!
Has anyone taken off their 20" and gone back to an 18"??
Would like to put a more aggressive tire on the truck due to my work conditions but the tires for a 20" are thru the roof:ouch:

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

Thanks

Sure why not? You can do 17", 18" or larger... 17" was the smallest stock size that came on the 05-07's. I have 17"s on mine right now and a set of 18" lariat wheels in the garage.

17" wheels have the cheapest tires. 18" are more and 20" are a lot more.:c:

Thanks Mdub!!

Unbelievable what they want foe rubber now!!! Only getting worse w/ this crude going thru the roof but, i really think i might go that way..
Atleast run one set in winter and one in summer to prolong life

Shop around for tires. 18 aint all that much better. Im looking at about $400 to $500 per tire with several brands. My last set I got last year in march was the Toyo ATs. Have the 50k mile warranty. So far I have put in 17k miles and Im down to 6/16 tread. So they dont really hold up to the milage. But they were about $300 each.

Best deal i have found on any rubber is Tire Rack in South Bend. Huge selection and by the time i get anything shipped to me it ends up around 30 cheeper than the locals but, i still need to mount and balance so, by the time i get done w/ all that it ends up around same price as locals

I'll keep my 20's, the look much better. Just pack your lunch for a few weeks and save some coin

Tires are expensive for these rigs no matter how you slice it. I just keep buying used tires on craigslist for a fraction of the cost haha.

there is a guy here in Ft Worth using 17.5s and G rated tires for low boy class 8 trailers. Don't know where he got the rims, but the tires should last longer, comprimise the ride and not sure about tread patterns.

Yeah I dont see 18" being much better, best bet would be to find a set of 17"ers.

Anyone know how big of a tire you can put on a stock truck with 20" wheels? Have on 275/65/20 right now but would like the larger tire look without having to jack everything up
