i have tried to get some codes on two different readers and got nothing on both. not sure what the fuel pressure is and what the ICP voltage and pressure is since I don't have a means of testing it, yet...

dam man I was debating on a 6.0 but heard they were problems why dont you sell her. I have had my 7.3 for 3 years now. Has 210*** not one problem but had to replace fuel line and my belt. 7.3 is legendary. my uncle has a 04 6.0 with 40k miles. Scared to drive it because of the engine. Though I have heard there is a kit you can buy for 6.0s that cost 2k but its supposed to make it bulletproof!:) goodluck man

I have 230k on my 04 6.0 and still kicking, 2 things are bad for the 6.0- babying it or thinking it is a race engine, they are made to work so work them a little and get rid of the egr

dieselbomb87- I have tried selling her and trading her in, but no one seems to want her... it's like the old hag that no one wants :( haha
bobfbigman- I was using my truck to pull car trailers and my in-laws boat... She use to be a pulling SOB but went down hill real quick. Sucks... |
So, as I was sitting here waiting on the wife to get home, I decided to go see how the big girl was doing... I started her up, she started right up like she has been. Same sounds of course... I let her warm up, since I can't get her to rev or anything while she's cold. So, I sat and listed to her and checked for leaks (which I found one at the back of the oil pan, not big though) until she warmed up. When she was warm, I gave her a good rev to see how she'd do... I got up to 3k RPM's before she decided to slowly go down on her own... I didn't have to let off the pedal for her to go from 3k to 2k RPM. I leaned under the side of the truck and gave her fuel to check smoke (since i took the catalytic converter off) and noticed that when she got to high RPM she'd choke white smoke... I'm not talking heavy plumes of smoke, but as if she was choking... only white smoke... Then I took her around the block to see if she'd at least get up to speed better. She sounded like she wanted to, but something is holding her back, and it ain't my lead foot holding her back. haha... Still waiting on getting paid... I think I'm going to start off with a flush of the system and run some engine cleaner thru to help get rid of any gunk. I figure that's a good place to start and work from there... eliminate the easiest and cheapest fix first...

If your going to use an engine flush make sure its safe to use with a turbo diesel. Alot of the flush's out there are not. You also said it was idling at 550 RPM sounds a little low to me maybe get someone to test the voltage of the FICM. just a thought maybe it will help. good luck :c:
|
what kind of engine flush should I use? I have ran some SeaFoam thru her before and i didn't really notice any difference in performance or cleanliness... just wondering what ya'll recommend. :w2:

okay, so i got a new gadget that does better at reading codes... for some reason, the other two or three that I tried didn't give me any codes... this little guy gave me 8! :scare2:
I've done my research and found out what they all are, so here's a filler in for every one helping out ... also, i tried deleting the codes but, even the erase button wouldn't delete them! haha P006A - MAP/MAF P0102 - MAF LOW INPUT P0113 - IAT SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT P0403 - EGR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION P0405 - EGR VALVE POSITION SENSOR "A" CIRCUIT LOW P2290 - ICP SENSOR AND/OR CONNECTOR P2614 - CAMSHAFT POSITION OUTPUT CIRCUIT P2617 - CRANKSHAFT POSITION OUTPUT CIRCUIT sounds fun, yeah? any one close to where I live wanna help out? Beer's on me. |
I'd be all over it if we weren't on opposite sides of the country. What do you have for an intake setup? The Map/Maf and IAT codes are interesting to me. I've been reading about those recently as well. Does your truck still have the MAF butterfly valve? It's right between the intake elbow and the intake manifold. A lot of guys upgrade to the 05+ intake elbow and get rid of that, so that could be those codes possibly...
The ICP, crankshaft and camshaft are interesting too, can't believe you have all 3 simultaneously. |
Yeah, everything under the hood of the truck is still 100% stock to my knowledge. When I bought the truck last year, the guy said he didn't make any mods when he rebuilt it and he was the only owner, so... yeah.
