Muffler Delete Pipe Question

I removed my cat and now I want to do a muffler delete. Will it be to loud? Will my mpg drop? Will the bottom end power be gone because of the reduction of back pressure? Any help please I do not want to do something and get bad results. I work on my driveway and it is very cold!

havnt done this yet but when my warranty is up I will. Far as I know it gives you less restriction in the exaust. Little more power and smiggen louder. Turbo whistle increases abit also.

The turbo on these engines creates enough back-pressure that there is no concern in that department when removing your cat and muffler. You will have all the back-pressure in the world from your turbo.

As to the loud aspect, your turbo whistle will get a lot louder at idle. And at full throttle it sounds like pretty throaty. I have a 4" downpipe into 5" stacks, and I drive 25,000 a year with the only "mufflers" being my windows! I love the way it sounds.:rocking:

Aa per mpg, I didnt notice a massive increase, but I sure didn't notice a decrease!:tu:

yea i have been thinking about doing this also i have a 4" MBRP stainless steel turbo back exhaust with cat delete but i have the small MBRP muffler on it and was wondering what it would sound like if i took it off. Would love it if it made my turbo louder

The most noticeable difference in turbo noise came from either my 5" stacks or my AFE stage II intake. The stacks really make my truck sing. Not to mention it sounds like a pissed off biker gang at full throttle!

If you really want loud..... I thought I heard something about a silencer ring in the turbo???:humm:

yea i do know there is a silencer ring in the turbo in i think 05 up but i have knot been able to find out if you can just take it out or knot.

No one does a silencer ring deal on these, that's a dodge thing. No muffler and no cat will result in a vacuum cleaner type sound at idle (more like a jet, but you get the idea). Cruising around is about normal like stock, but stomp on it and it will SCREAM. If you have side exit exhaust it's great. If you have stacks, it will be very loud inside the truck too, so towing with stacks can get obnoxious sometimes. I tow a 2 place sled trailer with sleds on it and I can't talk to anyone in the passenger seat. Once up to cruising speeds it's like stock though. Really cool.

So you think if i remove the small MBRP muffler it will make my turbo alot louder on side exhaust with no cat.

not a lot louder but enough to notice a difference, im running stock turbo back in to dual stacks, with no muffler or cat, bout ready to put 4 inch turbo back, i say do it, you'll like it

When the temp. warms up I will do the muffler delete pipe. After reading about the results I am looking forward to doing it.
