I'd use oil analysis before guessing, otherwise stick to OEM @ 200 hr intervals. I understand the 6.0 shears the additive pkg to almost 30 wt fairly quickly. If u live in cold climate, syn will give quicker starts. OTR trucks been using dino juice for a very long time with good results. ymmv

I would do a UOA sample at 5k miles to get an idea on what is go on with the engine then go from there. You might want to look into a bypass filter if you are wanting to extend your drain intervals. Many opinions out there on who makes a good synthetic so you have to decide what fits into your $$. Bo |
Do you know what was ran through it before?
if it was junk oil and all of a sudden you switch to high detergent like Delo 400 or Rotella or even a SYN you may have some problems in your HOPS and small orifices due to the new oil removing all the left behind crap |
Im not sure what was run in it. The truck was maintained very well from the looks of everything and with the way it runs and drives. I changed my oil for the fourth time yesterday since i bought it. I put the oem oil filter and put rotella t6 oil in. I've put about 500 miles on it and it seems like its running fine. Only difference im noticing is that it starts quicker. But my truck never cools down completely before im driving off again.

You'll like the T6, your truck will too.
