the warranty is good up to 5yrs or 100,000 miles, which ever comes first.

brad2003 03-27-2010 09:11 AM

well it has 97000 and they said it was void becouse its over 5 yrs that was before they new about the aftermarket stuff. and it only had 82000 on it then

hock6.0 03-27-2010 10:50 AM

the void cause of the banks varys dealer to dealer, just depends on them.technically probly yes it voided. i have taken mine to the garage with the banks six gun installed out in the open with aftermarket exhaust and intake and all that has has been said is "how does it run with the the banks on it?" i have gotten it back a few times with it on a higher setting than what it was when i dropped it off. they but didn't care.

brad2003 03-27-2010 11:10 AM

yeah the ford shops over hear are gay. my brother had an 08 and they told him if he did anything aftermarket they would void his warenty but he did stacks and lift.with sct.

six gun's are a huge waste of money on a 6.0

ARP makes REAL good fasteners. Many members will say I am smoking crack on this, but if head studs are done ONE AT A TIME, the heads don't have to come off. Remove a bolt, install a stud, torque, go to the next. Some firewall components need to be moved for clearence, but it's do-able.

to the op yes some shops/dealerships take payment plans on that kinda thing some do not its hit and miss.

karls: yes removing them 1 at a time can be done without removing the cab. and cutting up the firewall. snapon makes a great adapter (bought one) to remove and bolt in the back head bolt/studs you may have to roll the engine some what but that wont take much at all.

Let me do some research, I may have let my dealer displeasure fuel my big mouth :w2:. The ONLY time I had mine in for engine warranty work was in 07, the transfer case electrics were covered by the mileage only, non motor, extended warranty that I bought.

Are you sure you didn't leave out "IMO" there?

Banks, Edge, and even Bully Dog generic tuners are fine if you're only doing the basics ie exhaust and a cold air. Plus, I didn't want the added expense of aftermarket gauges, and I liked the on-the-fly adjustability. I used a SuperChips on my 04 GT Mustang and didn't like the amount of time required to switch tunes.

When I build a 6-oh with a fat turbo, EGR delete, upgraded fuel system and trans, I will most likely go with an SCT to exploit the power potential.

For now, I am very satisfied and would reccomend what I use to others.

This topic has been beat to death, but yes I guess I should have put IMO and the opinion of anyone who understands what goes into tuning a 6.0.

None of the other tuners are even "tuners" if you want to get specific. They are piggybacked onto the stock electronics and then send false signals to the PCM to trick it into using more fuel and lots of timing.

There is a reason so many go through "all the trouble" of re-programming their trucks with a real programmer, vs. on the fly adjustability, which does ZILCH for transmission tuning. The transmission can physically NOT be tuned on the fly.

If you plan on upgrading down the road, why not just buy the SCT right off the bat? It's less expensive and does more and better things for your truck. You say you'll get it when you do bigger turbo and injectors, but at that point you dont have a choice, since none of the other setups can tune for those mods (maybe the phalanx, but good luck getting any info from Spartan on that for a 6.0).

You have your opinion and I have mine, but I'm using the facts I read to come up with my decision.

Karls03 03-27-2010 06:46 PM

If my Edge does ZILCH for my trans, why will it lock the converter in 3rd, 4th and 5th in tow mode or increase shift firmness with hp increase OR at a given throttle position? :humm: Sounds to me like its talking to the transmission.

I chose to sacrifice "personalized" tune for the cash I would save NOT buying pillar gauges. Now if I were to go dump $15K into my rig for a 1000lb/ft beast, well....

You like your SCT, that's great, but at the risk of being rude, it's NOT the end all upgrade for EVERY situation that you make it out to be.

Upping line pressures and actually tuning the transmission are two different things. The EDGE does not access the TCM like the SCT does.

You are right I like my SCT, you like your Edge, that's fine, just pointing out the facts.

I dont like the gauges from the Edge or anything like it because if the stock stuff is inaccurate than so are those gauges. The transmission temperature reading has been known to be off by up to and more than 20 degrees. I just prefer the stand-alone gauges.

I just dont see spending the money on an inferior product, especially if you have to buy the better one later down the road anyways.:humm:
