I know my 6 litre sucks 06-23-2008 10:32 PM

it's been like this for almost a year. It did it for the first time on the way to work when a V6 mustang tried to pass me and i put her to the floor, when i got to work i noticed the coolant in the wheelwell i opened the hood and found that it was coming out of the resivoir. I had my Banks plugged in then so much for safe i guess.

thanks everyone

also -- I've read a LOT of people just have faulty coolant caps and when the system gets pressured up (like under load) it starts spewing thru the cap...

try the simplest first -- replace the cap... if it fixes it - GREAT! if not.. then you start moving on to the more serious things...

Usually they are faulty because of excessive pressure.

I replaced my cap and the tea kettle sound went away for a little bit, but it showed back up. Combustion gasses were making it into the cooling system.

Since the OP stated he has used a Predator, I would venture to say that he has stretched headbolts. Predator programmers have too much timing on the top end and have been the leader in headbolt stretching. If there is no coolant on the ground where I described earlier, that would pretty much rule out a cracked EGR cooler.

i have replaced the cap. Didn't help. Started to loose the coolant with the Banks 6 gun in. Oh well i guess she's very sick then, thanks everyone for your help.

should still be under warranty...

take all the stuff off of it and run it as long as you can..

then take it in for studs and make sure they put in some ARP or other aftermarket set!

I know you said it started with the banks in, but the damage may have started earlier than that.

To be perfectly honest, the 6.0's have been known to stretch head bolts in stock form. So with ANY tuner it is a matter of WHEN, not IF you will need head studs.

my milage is over for my warranty. and that was when i threw all the stock stuff out anyhow.

You have more than 100,000 miles on your truck?

I think this common with the six leaker cousin said his did it and his has under 20k. If it leaking out of the reservoir then it is probably not you head gaskets or stretched head bolts.

YMMOT 06-26-2008 11:24 PM

Ummm that's where mine was blowing out when I needed head studs.

Some of them were over filled from the dealer and would do it once or twice, but if it is recurring then usually the culprit is the headbolts/gaskets.

But what do i know? I mean I've only been there, done that and have the ARP atuds to prove it.
