Low Oil Pressure

My oil gauge on my 2006 F350 6.0 drops at idle ive replaced the oil cooler along with the high pressure oil rails and pump also my ICP sensor it doesn't throw the engine light at all but it runs fine other then that

make sure you have the right oil filter, it should be a Motorcraft or a Fram, they are the same thing. some oil filters are too short, aspecially the ones with their own caps.

Justin Kornkven 05-05-2014 12:08 PM

That's all I use is Motor Craft on it

Have you changed IPR valve? I've had the low pressure G-rotor pump take a poop on mine before and cause this also

Justin Kornkven 05-06-2014 01:07 AM

ill have to look into it thanks

Just had that same problem. Leak in hpo line and check ball out on hpop. New hpop and line and it runs great. Is it hard to start after it sits?

06 don't have check ball on pump

FRIDAY88 05-07-2014 08:38 PM

03 04 have check ball 05 and up don't have check ball

prison 05-08-2014 05:51 AM

Did not know that. Well the hpo leak still applies but mine gave a code for low icp on cranking

I do believe he changed icp and pump and rails but yeah there is a possibility of a high pressure leak for sure

prison 05-08-2014 11:49 AM

I believe alldata's first step is to check actual low pressure oil with a mechanical guage if I remember correctly. A code reader would be helpful. Mine never had an engine light on with that problem but had a code

That's is first step and yeah 6.0s don't like throwing CEL and lots of times won't even throw codes haha always pissed me off

The oil pressure gauge in the instrument cluster has nothing to with the high pressure oil pump, oil rail, IPR, or ICP...

prison 05-09-2014 08:31 AM

No it doesn't but the low pressure there can be caused by other things

HPOP failing causing oil to rush by not building pressure will cause this I know because the HPOP in my 04 broke the check ball off and gauge in dash read nothing at idle then built the second you touch it so that is a false statement
