whats a good turbo?? help please.

I have a 2006 Ford F250 XLT 4x4.

i have done some upgrades and was wondering whats a good turbo to go with. here a list of what ive done.

blue spring.

Fass System (non sure what one)

155cc injectors on stock nozzles

ARP Head Studs

Sinister Diesel EGR Delete

5 inch MBRP Turbo back exhaust.

and a SCT Livewire tuner.

Depends on your goals. A Pmax with a single bladed compressor wheels would be a GREAT add-on to the injectors. You could have the stocker modded to help. Depends on the money you want to spend as well.

bustedknuckles 12-19-2013 11:44 AM

What is the single bladed compressor wheel?

jkidd 12-21-2013 04:26 PM

powermax is a nice upgrade... you can sell your stock turbo too because there is no core.

HeavyAssault 12-21-2013 06:49 PM

Pics to explain the different compressor wheels:

Stepped compressor wheel (Left) Single Plane compressor wheel (Right)

These are just an example. There are several variations out there for just about any turbo.

I rebuilt an early 03 stock turbo. $100 for a kit and then threw on a wicked wheel2 $200. I went the extra mile and had it balanced. It was dead nuts so I only got charged $50. $350 turbo pushing 40psi

Adrenaline junkie 12-27-2013 08:17 AM

I was thinking about doing that 6.0 lover2! Thanks for feedback! Sounds like that would be a good step up over stock on a budget. I was wondering where you got rebuild kit? I hear there are different thrust washers available. 270 degree vs 360 degree washer?

I got the 360 from pureturbo.com and I went straight to dieselsite.com for the wheel

I also got a thread that shows what the guts to the turbo looks like if you're nervous. Easy as heck though

I am in the market for a turbo as well, I have been looking at the MTW stage 1 turbo, it's perfect for stock to 155 sticks. It's also supposed to flow about the same as a pmax and spool faster than stock. Plus there only 850$ with a billet wheel.

HeavyAssault 12-29-2013 05:07 AM

Since MTW is a rebuild you take your chances. A Pmax with a billet wheel will perform the same, since it's a new turbo it's does cost a little more.

The amount of PSI you read doesn't mean anything with regard to airflow which is more important.

mach5customs 12-29-2013 08:34 AM

That is true, but it does have a 1 year warranty which I think is what the pmax has.

Koda22 12-29-2013 11:56 AM

Yea might give the mad doctor a chance...I've only heard good things about his turbos....a stage one would work nicely...or a hybrid...

mach5customs 12-29-2013 12:00 PM

I am buying a turbo in the next couple weeks and I am really leaning towards a stage one. I prob won't go any bigger than 155 sticks so it should be perfect for me.

BranNinja 12-31-2013 02:36 AM

My goals are making it faster but still able to safely tow. not sure how much it weights but i pull a bumper pull trailer with over 35+ square of roof shingles a load so i think its quite a bit. dont have much money so cheaper is better.. i seen this turbo on S366 Turbo

and was wondering if anyone thinks its any good.. this is were i got my injectors.. and the cheapest turbo i have seen...

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

and also how fast should my truck be about.. i had all this work done to my truck that i listed in my first post and it seems like my truck is about the same or worse than stock before all the work . kinda disappointed for spending 10 to 12k

mach5customs 12-31-2013 05:07 AM

What tune are you running on your truck?

BranNinja 12-31-2013 06:04 AM

Innovative Diesel.

mach5customs 12-31-2013 03:29 PM

I'm running a idp Xtreme street tune on my truck and before my turbo started sticking it was pretty quick. A big difference from stock.

BranNinja 01-05-2014 07:50 PM

well i tried literally 10 plus different tunes for them and all of them are not working right. i dont know what the problem is. when the guy was doing all that work to my truck could of he done something wrong?? I noticed my a/c doesnt work. and also my truck started making a whining noise like the belt or something when im between 15 to 30 MPH. they wrote the tunes for 155cc and the truck would not run right.. the idle would be all wrong and even try to die.. so i asked them if your doing 155cc tunes on 135cc injectors would it mess up and he said maybe so he wrote the tunes for 135cc the truck ran alot better. so im thinking they guy didnt even put the 155cc injectors in. i wanted 190cc but he told me it would melt my engine to go done one so i told him ok 175cc is fine.. well then when i got my truck back he told me he put 155 in and charged me the price for 190cc and told me it was safer for my truck.. but i dont know what gave him to right to put what he wanted in my truck.

mach5customs 01-05-2014 08:02 PM

Yeah that sounds fishy. It could definetly have been something the mechanic that fixed your truck did. Did you try a tune for stock injectors just in case he didn't swap them at all?

BranNinja 01-05-2014 08:17 PM

isnt 135cc stock? and thats what im saying when the guy did a tune for 155cc the truck ran like shit, wouldnt build boost. couldnt even power brake the truck only lot of black smoke would roll out.. then they did a stock tune 135cc and it ran fine..

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

he was the results from the tuner on a 155cc tune.

Here the results from the tuner.

Estimated hp is 60.3 and tq 118.2 @ 2678rpm

0 to 60 19.82s And the quarter mile 21.89 @ 64.91mph

mach5customs 01-05-2014 08:20 PM

Was it a reputable shop you could go back to and have the truck fixed and the larger injectors installed?

BranNinja 01-05-2014 08:28 PM

he works at a ford dealer and we knew him and he took my truck to his garage at his house for some reason..

Adrenaline junkie 01-06-2014 06:52 AM

You should get what you paid for from any repair shop. You agree to repairs and if there is any variation it's mechanics responsibility to inform you BEFORE change is permanent unless you agree before work begins. I would get your injectors checked, something is fishy. Did you talk to the guy who did the work and give him a chance to fix it first? We are all human, maybe he di something wrong or his injector source goofed???? I would give him a chance if you didn't yet but he wouldn't get one dime more money!

bustedknuckles 01-06-2014 10:27 AM

I think you've collected enough evidence to indicate you've got 135cc injectors.
I would agree with the last poster...give the guy a chance to do what you asked him, and don't give him any more money.
What really matters is what his intentions were(are). If he wants to give you what you originally agreed to, then he should be given a chance to do this. There may be an honest reason for the wrong injectors getting installed, if that's what happed.

Ok fine. But what about the 190 sticks melting down the engine. Did I misunderstand???? How could they do that? Lots of folks run massive injectors

BranNinja 01-13-2014 11:24 PM

I told him about why he went with 155 instead of 175 that he didn't have the right to make that decision to my truck. And he went off on me and telling me he isn't going to so shit. I wanted 190cc to begin with but I went to 175 cause he told me that 190 were way to big. And for him to put 155 is wrong if he eve. Put those in also. My truck doesn't run like before. It's shit how it runs. Making noises I never heard before like leaks. And also a whining noise passenger side. When you give it gas. We have other 2006 ford. All that is done to it is exhaust tuner and blue spring and it beats my truck. So with mine having more work done how is that? So idk what to do since the guy toke my truck to his own garage at his house and not through ford.

HeavyAssault 01-14-2014 06:30 AM

Get to court.

Adrenaline junkie 01-14-2014 06:16 PM

Do you have anything in writing? Good example of why reputable shops give you written estimate and you have to sign. I would hope if you can get in front of a judge you could get some help. I would see if his employer is aware of his dirty business if he refuses to fix his mistake!??? :-O

BranNinja 01-14-2014 06:18 PM

I know some of the parts he got like all of the updated pieces oil and coolant and all the stuff from his business like a parts list in my name from him but the injectors and all that came from a different shop that he called to order them.
